August 10, 200520 yr The saddest part of this whole thing is: Any Royals fan over the age of around 30 probably remembers a KC World Series championship. ( using a 10-year-old fan at the time as the barometer ) It was 19.....19.....1985. ( to quote a horrible song ) Any White Sox fan over the age of around 98 MIGHT remember a White Sox World Series winner, assuming their memory hasn't escaped them. Now THAT's sad. Sometimes I see threads that go something like this: "Would you trade sucking for the next 10 to 20 years in exchange for a World Series title now?" Maybe the Royals fans agreed to that deal in '85.....

Because Gload lost us one of the games singlehandedly and blew Garlands chance at history... At least one good thing came out of it though... We got rid of the myth of Gload as a good defensive 1B.... Maybe if Ozzie does give him one more chance he will stick to DH most of the time as he should of been all along...

Seriously I think Gload is a decent hitter with below average defense. He has done nothing to really prove otherwise... I do think that Gload would still be here had he not made that error... Well that and having a batting average below the Mendoza line...

Which is why I also look at that dreaded cub series... and to the fact that he's no where near as skilled at picking balls in the dirt as Konerko... He might have better range then Kong when he's actually able to keep the ball in his glove, but I still don't feel comfortable with him out there everyday... He's kind of like Jamie Burke... career minor leaguer, decent hitter, but the glove work just plain isn't there...
