September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Hey guys, instead of signing in this thread, sign the petition at www.savejohnrooney.tk I signed it, Im 547. Louie Martinez
September 6, 200520 yr Hey guys I got another idea. We should get as many people as possible to email Hawk and DJ the next couple of games to try and pimp the petition. I've been emailing it, and I've got wite, CS1, and 56789 emailing him tomorrow too. We need your help!
September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) This petition isn't going to get John Rooney back. It's a done deal. Personally, I'd like to see Dave Wills be given the job. He left because he wanted a broadcasting job with the Sox and couldn't get it because they already had Rooney and Farmer, now the job is his. Not sure about his contract situation with the Devil Rays, but I think he is a logical replacement. Gabe Martinez P.S.:Dave Wills should be given the vacantcy if John leaves (Which I hope it doesn't happen).
September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) P.S.:Dave Wills should be given the vacantcy if John leaves (Which I hope it doesn't happen). Dave Wills has a job, and is under contract.
September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) Dave Wills has a job, and is under contract. Wills could ask out of the contract if he were approached by someone. Also the Score could offer to buyout out his contract too.
September 6, 200520 yr I repeat, Farmer is going to do PBP, why would they bring back Wills? He is a PBP guy, not color.
September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) I repeat, Farmer is going to do PBP, why would they bring back Wills? He is a PBP guy, not color. Feels like this -> :banghead :banghead
September 6, 200520 yr A good guess is, the Score already has someone in mind whom station mgmt. is comfortable with and/or is a part of their corporate affiliate network. I'm not talking about any of the Score hosts here, but the radio industry is pretty well connected and it's a big corporation so quite possibly it's someone from another market. I would think they'd find someone who is capable of doing some PBP so Farmer won't have to carry the entire load. As for Wills, it doesn't make sense if they intend for Farmer to do most of the PBP.
September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Feels like this -> :banghead :banghead Exactly, plus isn't Wills happy in TB?
September 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Exactly, plus isn't Wills happy in TB? That's what he says.
September 7, 200520 yr I saw some mention of Rooney and Anaheim where he'd be in the TV booth. Oh my god....fire Hudler now. End of my anti angel announcer rant
September 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) I saw some mention of Rooney and Anaheim where he'd be in the TV booth. Oh my god....fire Hudler now. End of my anti angel announcer rant All I can say is that Angel fans will be thrilled if they get Roons.
September 7, 200520 yr I recieved in email from Brooks on the subject of John, thought I'd share it with you all: David, Thanks for your note. It is disappointing that John will not be on our broadcasts after this season. He is a fantastic broadcaster and I will personally miss the "and that's a White Sox winner" call. I think (and this is my opinion only) that during the negotiation process with WSCR, John really thought about what he wanted to do. He is a very talented broadcaster that has a wide range of talents (he has done basketball and baseball play by play as well as hosted call in shows) and I think he wants to explore the next steps in his career. It is a big broadcasting world out there and there may be other TV and radio opportunities that may interest him. I know he loves the White Sox organization, and I cannot blame him for wanting to grow. I personally wish him well. There is no animosity, rather a great mutual respect between John and the entire White Sox organization. John will move on and pursue his broadcasting passion. We will work diligently with WSCR to bring the best radio broadcast possible for our fans next season. Knowing John, I know he will appreciate your efforts and the kind words that will be shared at the website. All the best and thanks for being a fan of the White Sox, Brooks
