Looking ahead to the Twins series...

Featured Replies

Gardenhire has shuffled his pitchers, pushing Johan Santana back to Saturday as he nurses a blister on his middle finger.

Even though one pitch hasn't even been thrown in the KC series, I thought I would look ahead and show the possible pitching matchups in the Twinkiedome. The Sox really need to step it up against KC.

Friday: Garland v. Baker (rookie, haven't faced him yet :o )

Saturday: Hernandez v. Santana

Sunday: Contreras v. Lohse

Thankfully, Saturday's game is not on TV.

Well....Saturday is a loss. Thanks Gardenhire!

Why not thank Ozzie?

L - Duque would be a disasterous choice.

I have no confidence we can beat Santana, no matter who's on the mound.

So why waste one of our good pitchers when we can save them for a winnable match up? :P

Also, I'm done "thanking" Ozzie. It was just a matter of time before people finally caught on that he's not the sharpest of managers.

Exactly, that's why I was sarcastically thanking Gardenhire.

I would like to see Ozzie pull a surprise and start BMAC vs. Santana on Saturday.

hahahahaha

I crack myself up.

If it was BMAC vs Santana we would win... Just because he's on fire...

However Ozzie isn't smart enough to want to stop the bleeding.

Yeah, maybe McCarthy could throw a no-hitter against the Twins. Basically seems like that's the only way we can beat Santana.

I beleive fox picked up the saturday game.

I saw some posterrs stating that at the box office at the cell.

BMAC is going to start on sat. IM expecting an announcement later this week about El Duque going on the DL

But he is smart enough to lead a team to the best record in the AL...

Why would they put him on the DL? No reason to at this point of the season.

You can have an IQ of 2 and lead a team to the best record in the AL if your team loves you and will run through walls for you, along with catching fire at the same time. Case in point, Ozzie Guillen.

Ozzie is quite possibly the worst in game manager in the majors. There's no other way around it. It was looked over early on in the year because the team had a knack for coming back in a big way...you haven't seen that nearly as much in the latter part of the season, thus resulting in a slightly above .500 record in the second half of the season, along with inconsistency, and Ozzie's moves are being magnified now because of it.

:cheers

The reason we havent been winning as much the 2nd half is one august was our toughest month of the year and two the pitching has been struggling.... Ozzie isnt a great in game manager but he has improved from last season and he is still improving.

remember earlier in the year when all those moves based on his gut were paying off? Life has a funny way of balancing out. Still, I think he's a lot better than other managers but is still learning. And where I think he really shines is his philosophy: pitching, speed and defense. "Speed never slumps" he says, and he's right.

I would even go so far as to say he's saved Kenny's job, given KW's love for right handed power hitters. It wasn't until Ozzie came along that the Sox started changing their approach. And some of KW's moves prior to Ozzie? :headshake

That Santana has a blister is BS. Not only was he not moved to friday to face the Sox, but by moving him to Saturday, we face him not one but two more times.

Score said that El Duque will start Saturday, with McCarthy piggy-backing again.

For God's sake. :(

Santana's blisters will flair up again during warm-ups on Saturday forcing Gardenhire to go with Terry Mulholland. Ozzie will see this, take El Duque out after the first inning siting a minor injury, and replace him with BMac...I prayed to God, and this is what he told me.

I'm glad we're facing Santana. Develop a plan and learn how to hit him. Maybe they'll put extra time into indentifying his tendencies: perhaps charting the probability of Santana throwing a certain pitch in a certain count. If they care about maintaing their lead they should explore all venues to defeating Santana. Either that, or continue embarrassing themselves. I just won't accept "tipping my cap" or conceding defeat before he steps to the mound. Although I know others don't share my expectations of a club holding the best record in the American League.

Journalists covering the Sox might as well save themselves time and write a story consisting of Konerko quoting Santana's dominance, Guillen praising him as as "tremendous Venezeulan pee-cher" and a final line consisting of 7-8IP, 4-5hits, 0-1ER, 7-9K's and a big 'W.' I doubt his next two projected starts against us will be any different than before.

Ozzie has to be the worst manager in baseball. What's he done besides take a team that was picked to finish in 4th place and lead them to the best record in AL? Nothing!
