Our last series was a failure considering Cleve swept KC while we were winning 2 of 3.

Matt Lawton won the game for the Yankees tonight.  He was available at the deadline for a minimal cost.  Now, I'm not saying we should have gone after him, but there were some players available.  However, KW went after the two superstars, KG Jr. and Huff.

Please don't take this as an attack, but as a genuine question: where would Lawton actually play?  Who would he be an upgrade over (aside from Timo, of course)

 

Since we knew Pods was going on the DL, he would have been an excellent choice to leadoff when he was out.

 

And jphat...before the trade, Lawton was having a better year than Pods.

mccarthy and jenks aren't jack s*** on a world series champion.  but we act like they are our ace in the hole. 

Look, just remember this. Next year, our closer and our 5th starter will be paid $400,000 a piece. It will stay that way for several years.

 

Right now, we seriously cannot afford to trade away young people. This team has a lot of guys getting paid decently well, and a lot of guys who are going to go up in price. The only way we can afford to keep any of these pieces together, including just hte top 2 in our pitching staff, will be to have some young guys take the places of people.

 

You cannot build a team of all veterans on a $75 million salary and have them be winners. You need youth.

who gives a s*** about next year? who's even thinking about next year? it's all about RIGHT NOW. that is exactly the kind on thinking that is the reason this franchise has not won a world series in almost a century. that's the difference between ny, boston, and us. legacy of losers. unfortunately many of the fans have bought into this line of thinking.

Jenks looks good but he needs some experience in some tight games, even though monday he came in with guys on already and yesterday rowand blew it, he just wasn't locating his curveball like he should or else they would've had no chance.

Lets see, Pods has terrible defensive positioning, noddle for an arm, cant hit for any power, no plate discipline, and now he can't even run...

If you count in all the chances he has thrown away to score by getting caught stealing and by getting picked off... that negates from his obp in my eyes. I mean sure he gets on but he doesn't give us a chance to score waaaaaaaaaaaay too f***ing often. He is a s***ty base runner.... plain and simple.
