I don't know about you, but for me school comes second to seeing our beloved White Sox in the World Series. So to that extent a road trip to Houston is definately in order. Anyone know what Houston is like, bar scene, hotels, etc. Any good hotels by the stadium? When Astros tickets go on sale? How long/how the hell do you get down to the Lone Star State from the "Biggest Little City in the World" I hope that many of you join me on this quest down to Houston!

Tickts have already been sold out for the WS. They used a random ticket process.

 

Houston is an awesome city. Great food, great people. I usually will head down towards Galveston when I'm up there, but I love the water and staying near the Gulf.

 

You are looking at about a 12-14 hour drive from Chicago. Either down through St. Louis or towards Memphis and across.

I may go. The downtown area, where the ballpark is, has been revived. It's a nice place to be. There's a hotel across the street (I don't remember the name of it). Things to remember about Houston: no zoning, so you can have a million dollar home next to an oil change shop. Also, it's called silicone city because the first breast implants were done here. There are also lots and lots of strip clubs. Bars close at 2. There are lots and lots of strip clubs. The Rice University campus is beautiful. There are lots and lots of strip clubs. That home run could go down as one of the greatest in postseason history if Saint Louis goes on to win the NLCS. Wow. 1-2 count, 2 outs, one out away from the first world series in team history and poof a three run homer and you're down 1 with one AB left. Wow.

This is shaping out to be just as great as last years NLCS.

That ball was just TAGGED. Lidge set down the first two simply, goes 1-2 on Eckstein, seeing-eye single, Edmonds walk, Pujols blast. Off Brad Lidge. Absolutely incredible.

Add me to that list. I just started laughing the second Albert hit it, that guy is just unbelievable...though Lidge couldn't have been nicer with the pitch he threw.

I have such mixed emotions reagrding the series. The Astros are my favorite NL team. A distant rival for my baseball attention from the Sox. I really can't stand two friends fighting. But the collapse would be the worse since the Yankees last year.

 

I do want this decided on Thursday in an 18 inning, throw everybody, game.

You don't know how badly I want St. Louis to come back and win this series.

I agree in a weird way, Critic. Especially since there's NO - like ZERO PERCENT - way of getting tickets down there.

 

Meanwhile, if they come back, this is one TIRED ballclub. We should be in a damn good position.

 

At least with the sox, I have a .05% chance. Hey, a chance is a chance.

There's pros and cons for us facing either team. But like Critic and Kap, I'd probably prefer St. Louis.

 

You don't have to face the 3 headed monster, and although Carpenter has been great all year, I would like our chances against the likes of Mulder, Suppan etc. We've just got to keep the likes of Pujols in check and hope he has a Vladdy like series (and wow wasn't he bad).
