December 16, 200520 yr I just looked at the two biggest Arizona newspaper websites, The Arizona Republic and the Arizona Daily Star, and neither had any articles about it being only $3 million that the Diamondbacks are sending us. Rosenthal just once again stated that it is $5 million in his latest article. They'll also gain the ability to control Vazquez for the next three seasons. Dumping El Duque's salary was huge. I think its obvious that at this point in time, the Sox are not held by the limitations of payroll by a couple million either way. If KW sees someone he likes, he's probably going to go get him. at least for the next 2 or 3 years. If we keep winning it could be even longer than that.

The deal was finalized Tuesday. Hernandez, who was placed on the disabled list twice because of right shoulder inflammation in 2005, was scheduled to undergo a physical examination Friday in Florida. And the commissioner's office must approve the trade because the Diamondbacks are expected to send $5 million to the Sox as part of the compensation.

December 20, 200520 yr At first I didn't like the trade, but once I realized that El Duque isn't getting any younger, I thought it was a pretty good deal. However I wouldn't make many more trades.
