December 14, 200520 yr seems like we now no longer have duque, visciano, or marte in the bullpen..... so far these guys are a lock jenks cotts polite these guys are question marks hermenson (health) bmac (if garland gets traded, hes not in the pen durrr) so... let the endless specualtion of in house, FA, and trade possiblities begin... ill start. "Both the Yankees and Red Sox are talking with free agent Rudy Seanez. It's been reported that Seanez would prefer to pitch for the Braves, but if they're in on him, they've managed to keep it quiet. Seanez actually pitched for the Red Sox briefly in 2003, allowing six earned runs in 8 2/3 innings. Everyone is taking a closer look at him after he finished last season with a 2.69 ERA in a career-high 60 1/3 IP for the Padres. Dec. 14 - 4:54 am et"
December 14, 200520 yr Was just thinkin about Seanez myself. Some team like the Braves may offer him a closer's job though. Still if he wants to win a Championship, we may have a good chance. Other pitchers could include; Giovanni Carrara Felix Rodriguez Jeff Nelson Jim Mecir Joey Eischen So yes not a lot on the FA market as well. KW may have to get creative again.
December 14, 200520 yr Garland/Contreras + prospect for Abreu Dye for MR + spec or 2 good MRs How's that for speculation?

December 14, 200520 yr 1. Dotel. Sign him, rehab him, bring him back midseason. 2. Use Garland to bring the Sox several relief pitchers. Dodgers could give us quite the package, which may include several good pitching prospects. Not sure whether or not they're looking for starting pitching, but I'd rather give him to a team stocked with pitching in the National League, on the West Coast, where there's a strong possbility he'll resign.
December 14, 200520 yr I'm pretty sure Eischen is still under Nats control. EDIT: Maybe not, I see he has a protected contract yet he's listed as a FA so I'm not sure. He's definitely a guy I'd like to look at if he's available. Ok, he's still on the 40 man roster of the Nats so he's not a fa. Problem solved. Edited December 14, 200520 yr by Rowand44

Ahh my bad, he was signed to a 1 year deal today. So cut him out of the list.
December 14, 200520 yr The relievers will come via the trade route [probably Garland, and the guys like Harris, Gload, Joe B]. Right now the FA market is overpriced and underwhelming in terms of talent

They could be used to acquire young, low-profile relievers with some upside.

December 14, 200520 yr The Sox will probably look into Ugeuth Urbina. I'd look at Felix Rodriguez and Jim Mecir personally and Urbina.

December 14, 200520 yr I sure hope the Sox don't look at Urbina. Dont forget he was charged with attempted murder.
December 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(travelinman89 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) I sure hope the Sox don't look at Urbina. Dont forget he was charged with attempted murder. I actually wouldn't be shocked if Ozzie were the guy to give him the chance to get his career back on track, although it remains to be seen whether he will ever step foot in the US again.

Dodgers are a good fit.
December 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(travelinman89 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) I sure hope the Sox don't look at Urbina. Dont forget he was charged with attempted murder. Yeah, charged with attempted murder is the key thing, not convicted. Besides the fact that he is innocent until proven otherwise, remember he was charged with this crime in a country whose legal system isn't exactly the bedrock of integrity. If Ozzie thinks enough of him as a human being to go visit him in Jail twice since the off-season started, that's all I need to know about what kind of person he is. Obviously Ozzie thinks a lot of him, and on a pure baseball level the guy is one of the better relivers out there and would make an excellent addition to the staff. Who knows who controls the local police and judges in whatever Venezuelan district Urbina was charged in, drug lords, gangs, the governement? This isn't like the U.S., I'll take Ozzie's read on the situation over the Media's any day of the week. If he is convicted, or isn't allowed back in the country the point is moot, if he is out and acquitted by next season, and can be had for $1mil. or so, it's a no-brainer.

December 14, 200520 yr If these lazy ass pitchers would just pitch complete games like the old timers did, this wouldn't be an issue..
