Sox rated 11th best farm system by Sports Weekly

Featured Replies

They have Anderson and Liotta as the top hitter and pitcher 11th overall, even after losing 3 top prospects is darn good.

The top hitting prospect, the top pitching prospect, along with another very solid SP prospect, and they are 11th.

Ya, that kind of says something about the depth in the minors I'd think.

Anyone got a BABIP number for Liotta?

He just meant Liotta and BA are top pitcher and hitter in the system.

For pitchers, you can't really find AB data, but AB should about equal to 3*IP+H+RoE -- And you probably won't be able to find minor league Reached on Error data either. You can get a pretty good idea if you fudge it though.

And I think wite meant that we lost our top hitter in Chris Young. Our top pitcher came off the prospect list in BMac and we traded away Gio ... all that and still number 11. Not bad.

Very near the upper echelon in the league when concering farm systems, and our minor leagues got ravaged this year...in a good way obviously, with callups and trades.

I'm wondering where it is had KW not traded Young, Gio, and Haig.

f*** I read that completely the wrong way. My apologies.

I think it would easily be in the top 5.

I really don't think we are the 11th best farm system. If we are the other systems must blow. All our talent is at lower levels and even that is quite thin for the time being. If a few guys can get healthy and live up to their potential I can see us being there, but they haven't proved it yet.

My guess is they had them pretty high and made the ranking when we had all those guys. Our system was pretty strong than, probably right around top 10, maybe top 7.

Young, Haigwood and Gonzalez were not included in the rankings.

I really think they are overating our farm system too... i wouldnt put us in the top15.... but hey if they want to hype our prospects I dont mind just means more trade bait.

Ray Liottta

Francisco Hernandez

Chris Stewart (really likes Stewart-I see him as our back-up next year)

Rob Valido (he calls him Rob, not Roberto)

Up-and-Coming

Brandon Allen

Jack Egbert

Josh Fields

Jay Marshall

Noe Rodriguez

Ehren Wassermann (loses a lot of cred. there, Wasser is good, but undrafted-not a up and coming and 25.)

Sleepers (although they called it Up-and-Coming again, it was an error)

White loses credibility with me for not mentioning Sweeney and Getz while he mentions others less deserving, but there was his list.

Were getting love b/c were World Champs.

Im not kidding.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

When Andy Marte was still in the Braves system, he was viewed as a very good hitting prospect that was near ready at a very young age. When traded to Boston, he instantly became God and the best hitter guaranteed over the next 15 years.

I dont like his evaluation at all.... I dont even know who Frank Viola III is. I consider Broadway a better prospect than Liotta and since Anderson is in the majors now id put Sweeney up there.

Id also change it put Josh Fields in cream of the crop and take out Stewart. Also id put everyone's favorite 3B cant remember the name Micah shurnstein or some crap close to that in the up and coming and dont really care for the other names he has there.

For sleepers id stick that CF kid we got who was in the rookie league last season his name escapes me at the moment and id add Corwin Malone in Others worth noting if he is going to have Honel there.

Viola and Moviel are not major league prospects. Yet Sean Tracey and Jerry Owens (two of our 10 best prospects) are somehow on the list with him and Ryan Sweeney is nowhere to be seen. Also surprised Richard Brooks isn't anywhere. I like his arm.

90% of his up and comers list is garbage. And if Chris Stewart is a cream of the crop our organization should be dead last. Ya that young Cf that Kenny loves. Name escapes me right now and Micah is definately the s***znit at 3rd.

BTW, has it become public knowledge who Baseball America is going to name as the Sox #1 prospect? It's quite interesting.

I have heard grumblings of who it is. I won't say because some people will want to see it when it comes out, but if you PM I will tell you.

Can you PM me what have you been hearing?

He has the right person. He'll be the cover boy for the issue.

Gems of the System

Brian Anderson - duh

Ray Liottta - duh, except I suppose Broadway might have a chance

Cream of the Crop

Francisco Hernandez - Not till he hits AA

Chris Stewart - should be in AAA, solid year in AA, but this year will be make-or-break....not top 5 at all, though

Rob Valido - I agree

Up-and-Coming

Brandon Allen

Jack Egbert - I'm a fan of Egbert, had some nice starts

Josh Fields - The pitcher or the hitter? Either one could be listed, I suppose

Jay Marshall

Noe Rodriguez - since when?

Ehren Wassermann- maybe two years ago, but he'd need to have a dynamite year in AA

Sleepers (although they called it Up-and-Coming again, it was an error)

Tom Collaro -

Boone Logan

Paul Moviel

Top 2005 Draftees

Lance Broadway - yes, he was

Alex Woodson

Daniel Cortes

Aaron Cunningham - BIG fan

Clayton Richards

Others Worth Noting

Jerry Owens

Kris Honel

Sean Tracey
