for some reason i think this is totally cool. maybe i'm just old.

used to love going to my uncle's house as a kid because it meant getting a soda in a glass bottle. the novelty has since wore off i guess cause it really doesn't matter to me what it comes in as long as i get the soda...

everything always tastes better in a bottle.

What's interesting is that this article doesn't discuss the real reason why Coke is going back to glass bottles. Plastic requires some sort of oil (refined as petroleum or whatever) to manufacture. Oil is way more expensive now, and plastic is becoming more expensive with it. Glass, on the other hand, keeps getting cheaper.

Business aside, though, this is pretty cool. I do think it tastes better in glass.

NOT to be a pessimist or anything but how long after these come back out (which i like) will it take someone to sue over them??? whether they get cut from a bottle weilded by another gang member or have one explode on them after they put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. My guess is the first lawsuit will be filed within the first month. :headshake

I want them in the vending machines again!

Coke still offers a limited number of 8-ounce Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite glass bottles with the metal crown tops. There's also a U.S. market for bootleg, Mexican-made Coke in glass bottles, a formula that uses cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup.

If you have ever had it with the cane sugar instead of the corn syrup, you know that it is actually WAY better in that version, which is also the true old fashioned way of making the stuff.

I was looking at an old picture recently, and in it was the old stubby glass bottles you used to be able to buy, with the foam outside label and the metal twist caps. I had all but forgotten about those!

I used to work at a grocery store during high school in Michigan.

We have that 10 cent refund so I had my fair share of time working in the "bottle room".

When I first started there in 1989, they had cases and cases of glass bottles in the bottle room.

One day, they.. um fell over.

THAT was an ugly day.

In related news, Coca-Cola also announced the return of shards of f***ing broken glass in streets, on sidewalks, and on playgrounds across America.

And parents everywhere rejoiced....

Stupid stupid stupid idea.

Sorry, but Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding suffers terribly when stored in a bottle, much nicer eaten straight off of the plate.

So liquor should be taken out of glass bottles and be put in plastic then, right?

I want one of those machines that opens in the front with a glass door and you pay and it allows you to take one. I'd buy a bunch of glass bottle cokes.

I still have a couple of unopened 1997 Christmas Coke bottles, I don't know why, but I just never drank it before.

When I was working in Mexico, I couldn't figure out why the Coke tasted different. What is interesting is the Mexicans wanted me to bring US coke with me, and some of my neighbors wanted me to bring Mexican Coke back. I had a trade going for months.

which beer does that? They had that ad on television where there is a model with a case and the two guys stare and ask if they're plastic......referring to her case or her breasts.
