LVSoxFan
Just got back to the hotel across the road from Kaufmann. I am now 0-3 when watching the Sox here in KC. I gotta stop coming. We looked absolutely awful. It was like the roles were reversed; KC was us and we were them First off, I don't know how you build up a 5, 6, 7 run lead and then blow it. At the end of the first we were already up 5-0 and the KC crowd was silent. It looked like a rout. And then we steadily blew it. Garland looked okay for about four innings but then he looked tiref or wild; whatever you want to call it. Our offense was spot-on in the first inning and then disappeared. Literally. Even Thome was a non-threat. As the Royals got back into it, their crowd got louder and louder--man, these people are loud for not such a big crowd. And here we are. On a side note, Ozuna's awful drop of the fly ball might not have been his fault. When I got to the stadium at about 6:20 it was 65 and calm here. Shortly after 8PM all of a sudden the temperature plummeted and the wind kicked up something fierce. That may have been the wind playing with him. I don't know if you saw it on TV but there were hot dog wrappers (tonight is $1 night) blowing all over the field after 8PM). It was COLD. Having said all this, we officially looked like (sorry moderators) s***. There was no spark and no urgency. We just got trumped by the worst team in the AL central. I was not impressed at all. And there were more than a few blunders, Ozuna nothwithstanding. Sorry for the grim report, but I'm just tellin' ya what I saw firsthand. SoxAce
It was just a nightmare. Just put it behind us, come back and get em tomorrow.

LVSoxFan
Nope. LOL. Luckily I am out of here tomorrow morning and back to Chicago. My luck sucks here. On the bright side, I'm in Detroit next week to see them on Thursday. I do a little better there. I will share with everybody one funny story though; at some point during the game (I was second row behind our dugout) a bunch of frat-boy types who were KC fans started giving Ozzie some crap when he went out to the mound. When he came back, they were even worse. Ozzie looked up at them while entering the dugout, and blew them a kiss. CLASSIC. God that was funny. They didn't know what to do. ChWRoCk2
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) We are the worst team in the AL Central right now. Its just 4 games, the royals took a harsh beating by the tigers so they were due, we win the next two were back to 3-3 and we look at it that we just started the season. LVSoxFan
Well I'm certainly not giving up on the season four games in but I think it's safe to say that we suck right now. Big time. We sure did tonight. We should have STOMPED them after that early lead.
trottime
Garland's ERA is now 15.19. Maybe he can pitch a few no hitters and get it down.

Flash Tizzle
Each game has been worse to stomach than the one proceeding it, thus far this season. The way I figure it, the White Sox can't possibly continue this trend. Removing Podsednik/Dye/Pierzysnki from the lineup and scoring seven runs is admirable in its own regard. Garland faltering tonight against Kansas City is worrisome, but not entirely hopeless--remove Ozuna's misplay and a terrible outing is replaced by a mediocre to average outing. He will undoubtedly improve. Just as the offense will predictably produce less. If we bounce back tomorrow, it should be much easier to forget about this loss. It usually is. Milkman delivers
How did Thornton pitch beyond those intentional walks?
Chisox_fan
Come on guys. Ozuna's play butchered the game and handed Garland the loss (I admit, the 4th and 5th innings weren't his strongest but those 9 runs were not his fault). Like Hawk and DJ said, since Ozuna wasn't handed the error, Garland got the 9 runs against, when really he should have only had 4. Which is what all of our starters have been doing lately. Not one of our starters have had a successful outing. Our outfield looks like complete crap without Pods and Dye. And who will even be our center fielder if Anderson gets a day off? Machowiak? Because at the ring day Tuesday, I wasn't that impressed by his center field defense. There were quite a few plays he could have tried for. I know it's only the 4th day and we shouldn't worry too much but this team is not the same team it was. The pitching and defense has been terrible (aside from McCarthy and even Jenks) and that is what won us a WS. LosMediasBlancas
Funny, they kept talking about how cold it was, no one at the park looked cold. I saw a lot of people in t shirts or just a sweatshirt.

I saw a lot of people in t shirts or just a sweatshirt. I was there, dude. After 8PM it got COLD. Not just cold (probably low 40s, upper 30s) but with a nasty wind that was swirling around the whole place. Even the ushers were going inside under the stands to get out of the wind. Up until that point it was a perfect spring night for a ballgame. I also noticed that quite a few Sox players had nothing on under their jerseys (meaning: turtleneck or long-sleeve t-shirt) which surprised me. I had a long-sleeve T and I was freezing when that wind blew. But yes, just a few seats down from me were guys in their polo shirts that seemed totally unaffected. Go figure. greg775
I was at the game also. Sorry if these thoughts are rambling. ... Yes it was cold and extremely windy. Unless they changed it, the scorer actually called the Ozuna blunder a hit. Yes it was very very windy but the Royals didn't have any trouble following the ball, just the Sox. I did not sense the game was over at 6-0. Believe it or not, the Royals' lineup is better this year. The Royals pitching appears to suck but the lineup is better. Folks, we might not win today. In fact I expect us to lose game two unless our newest starter kicks some ass. I don't know what to say about Garland's game. Do any of you know how many fastballs vs. offspeed he threw. I know he was at 71 pitches in the fourth inning. Not good. WHo knows what would have happened had the fly ball not dropped in the fourth, the inning of the three doubles. No offense, but when we put an outfield of Mack, Anderson (he's swinging the bat poorly, very badly right now) and Ozuna out there, we are not going to scare many teams. Oz's pinch hit of Gload didn't work out. Worst thing that could happen, d.p. I don't blame Oz, but I'd have preferred Ozuna go ahead and bat with first and second and no out. I think it was Ozuna's turn anyway. I'm not pushing any panic buttons, but it's obvious there is a fine line between having a dominant world championship team and one that struggles. My bottom line: The Royals are better this year, Cleveland is scary good; Detroit is better; we need Jermaine out there. Nice catch, though by Mack in rf. Very nice. GO SOX! LVSoxFan
I hear ya. I am used to the cold weather but even with a long sleeve shirt under my jersey I was cold. Although there were a lot of people there feeling no pain, LOL. And did I mention how LOUD KC fans are? I was impressed (last year as well). They get into it. Detroit fans, by comparison, are l-a-m-e.

How did we go from having one of the best defensive outfields to this? I have no doubt Anderson should get in the groove. I just hope Pods and Dye stay healthy because you realize tonight how much we need them out there.
WilliamTell
I looked like a retard tonight defending the Sox. I had no clue what was going on in the game but I was going to my first pro basketball game up in Minnesota. The Jazz vs. the Timberwolves. I busted out an old Jazz jersey, with an Iowa Hawkeye shirt on, and had my White Sox had and sweatshirt on. (Who would've thought I didn't have any Chiefs apperal with me??) Anyways I was obviously getting a lot of crap about my teams, lol. Most of it was directed about the White Sox about them being a one year wonder and what not. So naturally I'm defending my team and saying stuff like well we really liked your Twins style, we just needed to perfect it and we did. Obviously this is another year and it's looking like we might be in trouble. I'm not too worried yet, but we need to have a sense of urgency I think.
