May 7, 200619 yr Another great outing by Vazquez, he's been flat out impressive thus far. Cotts and BMac were quite efficient tonight, as well. And the offense was very solid 1-9 tonight. Let's come back tomorrow and win the series with Buehrle on the bump!
May 7, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 6, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Someone moved to 16-3..... QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 6, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) ::starts winner thread:: And as promised.

May 7, 200619 yr Sounded like a great game...I had to listen to it on the radio. I was in the car driving back from the burbs.
May 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 6, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Another great outing by Vazquez, he's been flat out impressive thus far. He has been damn good but I want to see him against a non-AAA team at some point. Hasn't he already faced the Royals three times? Glad to see the Sox took care of business.
May 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 6, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) He has been damn good but I want to see him against a non-AAA team at some point. Cleveland can kinda hit.
May 7, 200619 yr Now that's the kinda game I want to watch against the Royals. Solid performances all around.
May 7, 200619 yr YES!! Jim Thome hit another one, another great pitching performance. Tigers lost, so we have our 1 1/2 game lead back.
May 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ May 7, 2006 -> 03:26 AM) Javy is looking really solid easily the best fifth starter in the game. Well, it goes way beyond that IMO. Right now, I have him down as an ace for literally half of the teams in baseball: Philadelphia Washington Atlanta Cincinatti Pittsburgh Los Angeles Colorado Arizona Baltimore Tampa Bay Kansas City Cleveland Detroit Seattle Texas And the 15 that he's not an ace on: NY Mets (Pedro Martinez) Florida (Dontrelle Willis) Houston (Roy Oswalt) Chicago (Carlos Zambrano) St. Louis (Cris Carpenter) Milwaukee (Ben Sheets) San Diego (Jake Peavy) San Francisco (Jason Schmidt) NY Yankees (Randy Johnson) Boston (Curt Schilling) Toronto (Roy Halladay) Chicago (Jose Contreras) Minnesota (Johan Santana) Anaheim (Bartolo Colon) Oakland (Rich Harden) Call me crazy, but that's just how I see it. Jeremy Bonderman and Felix Hernandez have yet to really take off, and I think that Javier owns dudes like CC Sabathia, Brad Penny, Brandon Webb, Zach Duke, Livan Hernandez, etc. The only team that I could go either way on is Atlanta (John Smoltz).

May 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(fathom @ May 7, 2006 -> 05:55 PM) Brandon Webb is fantastic now. I've noticed. It's a close call, but give me Javier. But yeah, that guy and Smoltz are the closest calls.

With the way the ball jumps out of Arizona, Webb and his super sinker's a better fit than Vazquez. I do think it's interesting that Vazquez is throwing more 2 seam fastballs this year in order to keep the ball in the park. The only homer he allowed was a massive hanger hit by Hillenbrand.
