Frank Thomas Injured?

Featured Replies

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:33 PM)
A lot of Sox fans who grew up watching baseball in the 90's became Sox fans because of him. Just because you don't like him for your own reasons doesn't mean you have to b**** about Thomas every f***ing time his or Thome's name are brought up. This is the modern day attendance thread, the next time you see Frank's name posted on the site do us all a favor and just ignore it because most people are getting sick of reading your bulls***.

I'm not offended, he wasn't saying anything about me, however for Frank to go out like a baby towards the organization that brought him up, paid him and treated him like a king, and won him a world series ring while he couldn't walk.....was a bit sad. And if you don't know what specifically what he said about the organization, then you clearly werent' paying attention.

And yeah I talk a lot about it, simply because I'm baffled at the Frank defenders. You can defend his numbers as a player (which need not be defended to be honest), but his personality is indefensible and I can't believe people try to do it anyways.

Who in this thread has defended that? I'm not denying the fact that Frank had an attitude problem at times. We're all past that. It's only you, Boz, and Nuke that keep bringing it up.

I know exactly what he said. And that wasn't anything even close to "trashing", as you Frank haters like to call it.

It's sad that Thomas wanted to finish his career with the only team that he had ever known? See, I guess I interpret what he said differently -- I view it as: the guy talked THAT MUCH about the Sox after he left, showing that he really didn't want to leave. Thomas loved Chicago, and it showed...

We -- the "Frank defenders", as you have so elequently dubbed us -- have admitted that Frank did say some dumb things when he left, such as the poke at Thome (which he did apologize for) and Reinsdorf.

As for his personality being indefensible? You don't know him, quit trying to act like you do. He was dubbed a cancer because the teams he were apart of sucked, so the media put all the bearing on his shoulders, even though he was one of the few who actually did his job. Combine that with the fact that Thomas, unlike a Paul Konerko or a Derrek Lee, wasn't a reporter's "dream" guy, and vwah-la.

Thomas certainly wasn't perfect along the way -- he probably isn't an angel -- but I'm pretty sure that he received a lot of undeserved criticism in his time here.

Frank might constantly put his foot in mouth, but he's still the best hitter in sox history (atleast as long as i've been alive).

i'll be glad to see him in the hall wearing a sox hat

Maybe you should just stick to your "insight" on college basketball...

Well, this thread went right into the crapper.

When a player leaves on his own, for whatever reason, and the fans start screaming, what about us, what about the faaaaaaans. I remember threads like this. The fans only give a s*** as long as you are wearing that jersey. There is no loyalty in baseball. This is why I will never criticize a player for leaving.

Not to digress, but is Frank actually injured? (That was actually the point of this thread at one time). He has not been in the line up for a couple of days and I am hoping to see him at the Cell.

Yeah. It's just day-to-day though; I haven't seen anything to where they think a DL stint is necessary. We'll have to wait and see.

If the pitch matchups still hold through. It will be Garland vs Zito in the first game.

 :notworthy

Funny stuff: I don't even remember Frank talking s*** until people here bring it up. Guess its how little this fan cares about that. I do remember watching him hit the s*** out of the baseball though and I always thought that was pretty cool. He's a big reason why I'm a baseball fan and more than a casual Sox fan.
