Even when Jay Payton smiles, he looks ready to cry.

His mechanics are also really off right now...he's trying to make up for the drop in velocity by overthrowing everything, so hitters wind up able to pick up his arm angle a lot better. He'll improve if he fixes that. No more 20 win seasons probably, but he's not as bad as he looks now.

 

I don't really want this to become an RJ thread, but they had a whole thing on his problems on Sportscenter at 6. They had all these reasons. But one was never his age. Can't he just be done? He is up there in age.

I am shocked that Thomas did not go to third on that single. SO will Thomas score on a single from second?

funny how we seem to be the only ones having problems getting him out.

 

He had no problem hitting here last the last 16 years either. Though he's in another jersey, this is still his home park. I'm not surprised to see him fare well this week.
