arow coming back?

Featured Replies

ok, so yesterday my friend told me that aaron rowand is on the trade block for the phillies and that the yanks, bosox, and chisox are looking at him. i think if that's all true, he wouldn't want to go with the yanks or bosox, he would most likely want to come back to the place where he didn't want to leave in the first place. has anyone else heard anything about this?? i think it would pretty much be amazing because we'll have someone just as good as anderson in the field, and someone who could hit at the plate.

You have to question this rumor. I don't see the Phillies trading him, but that isn't to say the Sox wouldn't want him back if they were trying. The question is what do they want?

'Twould be great. But do you have any source besides your friend?

no...that's why i was asking. i mean, i don't think the phillies would want to trade this guy, but if they do, i'm pretty sure we would want him back.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. CAN WE PLEASE STFU ON AROW?

I wish everyone would stop it.Aaron is not coming back to the Sox.He's gone and everyone has to get over it.

I will say one thing, if Aaron is really on the block, I have absolutely no doubt that Kenny would go out and try to get him. Kenny knows CF is a potential hole and he knows that Aaron would not only fit in the clubhouse, but he'd immediately fit in the field (his defense would work) and he would give a little offense as opposed to BA.

However, I don't think Aaron is on the block just yet. But it seems like Philly papers think the Phils are already out of the race, so maybe the Phils are stupid and ready to make a knee jerk move.

I think Rowand would be interested in coming back as a free agent but as far as trades go, he doesn't have a choice. Philly can either keep him or trade him and he's got no input, really.

^^^^^^^

Rowand has become a hometown favorite in Philly... a place where even Santa Claus is not a hometown favorite.

I doubt they would deal him

It said specifically in the Trib today that the Phillies aren't trading Rowand because it would be a PR disaster.

They won't trade him. He's their new "star attraction". I think he's leading jersey sales for Philly this year by a nice margin. I'd say Abreu and Burrell are traded before A-Row is even discussed.

An excerpt from a Dave Van Dyck article in the Saturday trib:

One person close to the situation scoffed at rumors Rowand would return to the South Side from Philadelphia, where he was traded for Jim Thome.

The fans would "revolt", the person said.

I read that. I was confused. The Philly fans or the Sox fans?

These Rowand rumors I am positive are internet driven.

Combine fan boards with talk shows. It's all crap. No way they'd trade

Rowand after just acquiring him.

Philly.

Think about this. If the Phillies could flip Rowand for a couple of good pitching prospects, then they would have effectively traded 35 year old Jim Thome for 4 solid pitching prospects. That's not a bad return at all.

From The Philadelphia Inquirer:

The latest trade rumor has the Phillies returning centerfielder Aaron Rowand to the Chicago White Sox for righthander Jon Garland. Let's look at three reasons the Phillies won't make this trade:

1. Garland has a 6.04 ERA.

2. He just signed a three-year, $29 million contract in December. He makes $10 million in 2007 and $12 million in 2008. Phillies GM Pat Gillick has talked often about payroll flexibility. It's doubtful he would take on such a contract, especially for a pitcher who is slumping. Garland's contract also includes a no-trade clause.

3. Perhaps most important, the Phils love Rowand.

The Phillies will more than likely pick up the $5 million Team option on Rowand for 2007; so if they feel that they will not be able to re-sign him to a longer deal, they will deal him by the trading deadline in 2007.

Gillick wants to build around pitching and defense as well. So Rowand's very imporant to them in that regard.

I will say one thing, and this isn't just for Philly. If one team were brave/dumb enough to start selling assets before everyone else, they could make a killing as there are not that many teams that are sellers right now. Most teams are trtying to harbor the image that they are still in it, no matter what.

Honestly, I'd LOVE to see it....but people, there is no f***ing way the Phillies give him back unless we mega overpay, which I have no interest in doing.

It's.......Not........Happening.

I go to orientation for a few days, come home, and see the same Rowand rumors. Its not happening people.
