Odd situation too before the bottom half. The outfield lights went out. The umps had a meeting about it with the managers, and decided to keep going. 1st and 2nd no outs for the Tigers currently.

Count had his changeup really working to go along with his FB and splitter. Awesome game for the Sox, we really played well.

Well, I'm not 100% sure JOse would be the pitcher he is today if he were still in NY. As we know now a lot of it was just being in a bad situation in NY. He needed to get out of there. His stuff was always awesome, but he had to find a spot where he was comfortable.

 

A lot of that had to do with his family's situation, IMO. New York isn't an easy place to play, but it's not like Mel Stottlemyre is a bad pitching coach. And Jose pitched pretty well there in '04.

 

Why Steinbrenner would trade away one of the best pitchers in the history of Cuban baseball AND EAT PART OF HIS CONTRACT for a journeyman one-year wonder is beyond me. But I'm sure glad that he did it.
