Congrats to the Count

Featured Replies

With tonight's win, Jose Contreras has now won 15 consecutive regular season decisions (dating back to last year), which ties the all time club record also held by LaMarr Hoyt (1983-1984) and Wilson Alvarez (1993-1994). Jose is now 15-0 with a 2.35 ERA in his last 19 regular season starts, and will look to set the new club record for consecutive RS decisions won at 16 next Saturday in Cincinnati (woo, I'll be there!!)

Congrats to Jose (who also set a new career high for strikeouts tonight with 11), that's a hell of an accomplishment. :headbang :notworthy

I'm hoping for 18 in a row, just so he can beat out that POS Santana.

He's a bad mofo.

Awesome game tonight Jose!! Keep it going!!

the count is the man.

I'd take him over any pitcher in the game who's last name is not Santana (Ervin doesn't count).

He's become an absolute joy to watch on the mound. The only thing I wonder about is why he doesn't strikeout 9-11 batters a game more often. His stuff is certainly filthy enough.

Curious, but aside from the fact he's a Twin, why don't you like him? I never really hear much about him.

That's the only reason. For that, I despise him though.

8 Innings 11 K's 0 BBs against the Rangers. That's absolutely filthy stuff.

I despise him for making our lineup look like hippo s*** everytime we face him.

hell yeah. Go Count. lets make 37 in a row.

Ozzie all but named him the all-star starting pitcher, barring a collapse in the next few weeks.

Well the answer to that one is pretty simple, Jose's strikeout pitch is the forkball and last night was the first time all year he really had his good forkball. Combine that with a Rangers lineup full of long, homerun swings, and you have 11 k's.

Not bad for a 57 year old!!!

Let's keep it going, Count! :drink

Counting the playoffs, he is 18-1 his last 23 starts.

I guess no one on this thread wanted to trade him, then. Thank goodness he re-signed. I wonder when Ozzie is going to finally put him into the #1 slot on our staff. It is no knock on Mark Buehrle or anyone else to get in line behind the Count. He's a great pitcher, and an even greater story.

New sig for the Count:

:cheers

If we get to the playoffs he'll start game 1 but Mark will start opening day again next year. It really makes no difference at all where they are slotted in the rotation.

Agreed, but it would be awesome to see him against Santana or Sabathia.
