June 21, 200619 yr The Score says that Brian Anderson's 5-game suspension starts tonight. That means his appeal was denied? I don't see anything on the Sox or MLB sites about it. ???

June 21, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) He just dropped his appeal. Well, I'm bummed -- I am going to the game on Saturday and was looking forward to seeing him; I was sure he'd still have his hitting streak going. I'm serious, damnit!
June 21, 200619 yr Far as timing, it couldn't have been more appropriate. Need something to deflect attention (even a little) off of Guillen.
June 22, 200619 yr You don't want to be short a man when playing games in National League ballparks, you need as deep a bench as possible, plus you're going to want your best defense out there. This is absolutely perfect timing and it really makes me think that they've been planning to do this all along.

June 22, 200619 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Interesting that he picked against STL and HOU to drop the appeal. His suspension comes with four of the games being against righties. That'd be why.
June 22, 200619 yr QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) His suspension comes with four of the games being against righties. That'd be why. That's really not why at all. That would be like reason number 10 of why they would drop the appeal. The guy has been playing against righties of late (though they have hit a streak of all lefties) and for his career he is much better against righties. Funny how the 5 game suspension will begin to be served 5 games before we go to NL parks.
June 22, 200619 yr QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) I'm glad he will be back for the Cubs-Sox series too. Id like to see him beat down Mabry again. LOLZERS!!!
June 22, 200619 yr Author From the Sox website-- While Anderson wouldn't reveal his immediate whereabouts for Wednesday, he did rule out the pressbox, adding with a wry smile that he doesn't sit with "the enemy." I like the kid's style.

I'm absolutely positive you are correct in your thoughts that the Sox don't want to be short in NL parks, and that's the reason is appeal was dropped.
June 22, 200619 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Interesting that he picked against STL and HOU to drop the appeal. Maybe they thought that Mac knows their pitching better anyway? June 22, 200619 yr Also, Mackowiak was 10-24 going into to tonight's game against whats his face that pitched horribly for the Cards tonight, that could have factored into the decision.
June 22, 200619 yr Who knows....maybe his back is sore after getting beaned and instead of sitting out with a sore back they decided to use up his suspension. Edited June 22, 200619 yr by BigSqwert
June 22, 200619 yr I was wondering what ever came that as I didn't seeing anything on it, till just now.

"It seems like the appropriate timing," said Anderson as to why he dropped the appeal. "We are only facing one lefty the next few days." http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
June 22, 200619 yr QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Is that right, Mr. Wizard? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws He's mainly faced lefties this season, I'm not surprised he said that but I really don't buy it. If that is why he's serving his suspension then Ozzie is even dumber than I thought.
