He's throwing strikes so far and not putting guys on via the walk -- which is more than can be said for Garland in the early innings yesterday. If he used his slider more on 2 strikes he probably would get a lot more outs. Instead he relies on his curve, when catches way too much of the plate and he gets hurt. Its a small adjustment.
