mreye
Farmer said the slam last night was the Sox' 7th. I was waiting for him to tell me what the team record was. He never did. I looked it up this morning: The team record is 8 in 1996 and 2002. The most by a team: AL: Oakland 2000 - 14 NL: Atlanta 1997 - 12 St. Louis 2000 - 12 Edited July 7, 2006 by mreye

LosMediasBlancas
14 is a lot. It's hard to imagine them hitting 7 more in the 2nd half.
Dam8610
Crede has an outside chance at the single player record for slams in a season IIRC. He has 3 as of now, and I'm pretty sure the record by a single player in a season is 6, but I can't remember who did it.
My Dixie Normus
It seems to me, every time Farmer starts talking about a HR, it happens. I can't remember how many times he has done it but he will say something along the lines of "Boy, a long one here would put the Sox right back in it." And then his next line is "And there is a deep shot to right....". It seems they call the shot pretty often.
mumu
You can count on Crede adding another slam on Saturday, because I'll be at the game, and every other game I've gone to this year Crede has a slam, so I'm expecting it, for sure.

hammerhead johnson
And speaking of grand slams, it looks like Manny Ramirez is gonna pass Lou Gehrig for 1st place before all is said and done. Lou Gehrig - 23 Manny Ramirez - 20 Eddie Murray - 19 Willie McCovey - 18 Robin Ventura - 18 Jimmie Foxx - 17 Ted Williams - 17 Hank Aaron - 16 Dave Kingman - 16 Babe Ruth - 16 QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) I think it was Don Mattingly who had seven some year in the late eighties That is correct. He had 6 grand slams in 1987. Mattingly's Grand Slams

I don't listen to the radio very often, but it seems that all Farmer ever talks about is homers. So, it's not surprising that when there's actually a homer, he said something about it before it happened.

Pronk currently has 4 IIRC, so Crede might have to beat whatever mark he puts up too.

Whenever something exciting is happening, you can't even tell on the radio because neither Farmer nor Singleton show any enthusiasm as something is happening. It drives me nuts. It drives me nuts. Actually Farmer has been going nuts about everything lately. Singleton doesn't show any emotion, but Farmer has been very excitable lately. Heads22
Actually, it makes me think about how much people hated Joe Crede before last year. Now, is there ANYONE ELSE on this team you want up at the plate in a clutch situation. I love Thome, Konerko and Dye, but, man, give me Joe Crede at the dish and I'll feel most comfortable. Who woulda thought we'd be saying that in 2003?
lukeman89
"Jim Thome hit his 28th home run back in the third inning, and if he hits one here, it will be his 29th" thanks farmer. i didnt know that
Whitewashed in '05
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Whenever something exciting is happening, you can't even tell on the radio because neither Farmer nor Singleton show any enthusiasm as something is happening. It drives me nuts. That's what I've been saying all along. Their calls to big plays are horrible. "Swing and a long one to left and its gone a solo homer." Very meh... Actually I forgot who homered last night while him and Singleton were talking, but he quickly interrupted to call the homer. That was one of the better calls I've heard from him... The PK GS was the best though. They both need to add more of their own signatures. I like the "swing and a long one" and "light it up," but he needs more. dmbjeff
Maybe an UH-OH in the radio booth. I can hear it now.
