Total - 12.2 IP, 15H, 6ER, 2BB, 13K, 4.25 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, .306 BAA

Compared to most of these Closer's season numbers, the Sox are doing really well vs most of them. Even with the small sample size, it is encouraging to see the Sox scoring on playoff caliber team's closers.

Hitting is not the issue, it is the pitching.

Well it seems one day ita pitching the next its hitting

It looks like hitting is our problem when we MIGHT be able to come back from our 4+ run defecit and something wrong happens and we don't come back, when we shouldn't have the defecit in the first place.

agreed, and i always noticed the sox hitting closers well

we need to get our starting pitching going

We need to take advantage of Todd Jones anytime we get to face him.

And with Joel Zumaya struggling and working on his mechanics, it's a perfect time to face the Tiger bullpen. We need to take advantage.

When we lose 6-4 and leave what, 20 guys on base or something like that...on the surface it seems like the hitting might be a problem...but then you realize, we still scored 4 runs, and last year, our team would have drooled over that.

If my memory serves me right, over the past 6 years or so the Sox have always had success against top notch closers.

If the pitching wasn't so bad, we'd be up 5-3 with Jenks in instead of down 7-5 with the other teams closers in.

It wasn't 2005:

2005 Closers vs Sox

Street - 8.1IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 7K, 2.16ERA, 0.72 WHIP, .179 BAA

Nathan - 7.1IP, 2H, 0ER, 1BB, 11K, 0.00 ERA, 0.41 WHIP, .087 BAA

Rivera - 4.0IP, 1H, 1ER, 0BB, 4K, 2.25 ERA, 0.25 WHIP, .077 BAA

BJ Ryan - 3.0IP, 2H, 0ER, 3BB, 7K, 0.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, .182 BAA

Total - 22.2IP, 10H, 3ER, 5BB, 29K, 1.19 ERA, 0.66 WHIP

Sox did not face Papelbon or Jones in 2005.

The key stat that is missing is L or BS. Who cares if we score 10 runs if we don't win the game.
