July 24, 200619 yr I don't think you'd be able to get them because you live in the Chicago area, which means the mlb.tv games would be blacked out.

They are, however, available shortly after broadcast in most cases. Being in CA, I rely on MLB.tv for most of my viewing and am generally only subject to Nationwide blackouts. Fox owns the rights to broadcast, it's up to them when to let MLB.tv air games.
July 24, 200619 yr If you live in the Chicago area you won't be able to get them. But isn't there a way to get around it by putting in a different zip code or something like that? I am going to NIU this fall and they dont have comcast and was wondering if that would work.
July 24, 200619 yr Nope you cant get them at all... I put down my information and everything and I cant get any whitesox games. Answering to the area code question... I have a friend in Texas who I let use my account and he can get the whitesox but cant get Rangers/Astros. So it doesnt matter what information you put down.

July 24, 200619 yr I get the games and am in Chicago... both road and home games.. only ones I do not get are when they play on WGN.

Yes, you'll have to "trick" MLB TV into thinking you aren't near Chicago. The way to do this is to use a free anonymous proxy server. Just do a search on Google and you'll find a bunch. LOL, there is no way for MLB to prevent it. If you are using an anonymous proxy, you might as well be at the location of the proxy server for all MLB knows.
July 24, 200619 yr That explains it because I had a Chicago area zip code in my info but never got blocked out at school. They must track the IP, makes sense for them.
July 24, 200619 yr I live in Mokena and have never had a problem watching them on MLB.tv. I have a wireless router and it assigns me a new IP that must not be blocked out. Watching them out on my deck has never been an issue all summer.
