July 31, 200619 yr What are the Padres doing? That is ridiculous. I know they used to have Perez, but why would they make this trade? That just seems really silly to me.

July 31, 200619 yr Different Oliver Perez. But if it's true, I guess I could see some reasoning. San Diego coaches probably think they can correct Oliver and have a great starter on their hands next year. Not sure why you would deal a dominant bullpen man when you are leading the division by 1.5 games, pretty odd. Edited July 31, 200619 yr by Palehosefan
July 31, 200619 yr spiff, I would have traded Vaz for Linebrink in a second. Edited July 31, 200619 yr by RockRaines
July 31, 200619 yr its not "official" but it goes like this: Pirates get: Xavier Nady Padres get: Oliver Perez, Heath Bell Mets get: Roberto Hernandez, Scott Linebrink

Bell is a piece of spiff anyway, so who cares. YOu have to be kidding me. Why would the Padres help out a National League contender? They got two pieces of crap in Heath Bell and Oliver Perez. Jesus!!!!!
July 31, 200619 yr its the same oliver perez, he was shipped with bay for Giles originally. It always seems that every Padres deal ends with me feeling they got ripped a bit (although the Cameron trade worked well)
July 31, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Could we have beaten that deal for Linebrink? Two proven pieces of spiff? I would hope so. I don't know why we couldn't have.
July 31, 200619 yr olive perez could exel in the San Diego park (SBC i think) because the park is huge. He used to be dominant but i believe he was pissed that his team sucked. I think he will do very well wiht the padres.

July 31, 200619 yr WE COULD'VE SENT VAZUEZ TO PADRES FOR LINEBRINK. METS GM IS A GEINUS.. TURNS NADY INTO LINEBRINK AND HERNANDEZ. WOW!
July 31, 200619 yr according to Rotoworld, this deal didnt happen Perez and Hernandez both still mets
July 31, 200619 yr Is Linebrink to the Mets official? I don't see it anywhere. From Rotoworld: Scott Linebrink wasn't traded to the Mets or any other team prior to Monday's deadline. The rumored deal of Oliver Perez and Heath Bell for Linebrink likely was discussed, but it wasn't finalized. Linebrink will stay with the Padres as a setup man. There's no way he'll go in a waiver deal. Looks like Linebrink isn't going anywhere. Edited July 31, 200619 yr by Jordan4life_2006
