August 8, 200619 yr Ok, the last few posts were pretty funny. But in all seriousness ........ Can you imagine if the SOX were to miraculously come back, win the division, roll thru the playoffs, and Win the WS? This WS would, in my mind, eclipse last years for just sheer excitement.

Nothing will ever top the 2005 World Series. I don't care if Thome hits a walkoff grand slam in the 9th inning of game 7 of the WS against your Cubs.
August 8, 200619 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Nothing will ever top the 2005 World Series. I don't care if Thome hits a walkoff grand slam in the 9th inning of game 7 of the WS against your Cubs. 2005 was great and all, but that would top 2005.
August 8, 200619 yr QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) 2005 was great and all, but that would top 2005. On second thought, it probably would, and beating the Cubs would be a big reason why. That would be more exciting, but the 2005 World Series championship will always be my best sports memory.
August 8, 200619 yr QUOTE(mu mu @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) I knew God, and you are no God. that might be one of the funniest things I've read around here
August 8, 200619 yr I wish this wasn't a thread, I'd love to see the Sox make the World Series again but first they have to make the playoffs before anything else.
August 9, 200619 yr QUOTE($I Need Money$ @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) are you kidding? I have the greatest sig in the world rite here. Ditch the text.

August 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) Want to place a little wager on that? OH SNAP and yeah, this thread could pretty much die until like October when the World Series starts too. Unless it's the Little League World Series, in which case it's in the wrong forum.
August 9, 200619 yr I can't imagine us making the series. But if we can just get in the playoffs anythng is imaginable. We are a team allegedly built for the postseason with on paper some good starters and a lotta run scoring potential. If we can somehow win the wild card, I wouldn't want to be a fan of the team that plays us.
August 9, 200619 yr The Sox have as good of a chance as anyone once the postseason starts. If the season ended today the ALDS matchups would be: OAK at DET Sox at NYY I like our chances, and especially with Detroit having to travel to Oakland for games 3 and possibly 4, then travel back to the Detroit to play the ALCS. August 9, 200619 yr The infamous Dayn Perry wrote this about the stretch run home for the A.L contenders; Team Avg. opponents' win% % of games at home Angels 0.529 51.0 A's 0.487 54.9 Rangers 0.508 50.0 Red Sox 0.515 55.8 Twins 0.504 51.9 White Sox 0.528 52.8 Yankees 0.510 49.1 The Red Sox are 35-17 at Fenway this season, and they'll have the most home tilts down the stretch. The Yankees have a slightly easier go of it the rest of the way, so the schedule suggests they'll hold on to their lead. The wild card in the AL is much tougher to call. The White Sox have the toughest slate ahead, so Boston might be a narrow favorite. So the schedule makers haven't been kind to us this season.

August 9, 200619 yr The comeback against the Yankees last night may have been the one that gets the Sox to play like the Champions they are. Also defending champions don't go down with out a fight. WIN OR DIE TRYING!! GO WHITE SOX!! Edited August 9, 200619 yr by whitesox1976
