Rank the Sox Killers: Grudz, Sweeney, Emil Brown, Javy Vazquez, Joey Cora, Mark Tehan

#1 on this list is without question any pitcher that throws a changeup.

If we do lose this game though, who's starting the Congratulatory thread for Javy?

It would be nice if even his biggest admirers see that he probably isn't the guy you want on the mound in games that really need to be won.

When did Sweeney learn to pitch?

Javy=Danny Wright with a much bigger contract. Or actually, at least Javy is usually good for 5 innings I guess, so maybe he's a bit better.

I had a feeling he'd not have his good stuff tonight after battling so hard against the Yankees.

Teahen's more dangerous than Sweeney right now.

Tigers win, bad news. But the Red Sox lose, which is more important than the Tigers result, regardless of what people say around here.

WOW!

Very nice pitch! We need to get the leadoff man on base.

If we lose this game, my blame goes directly towards Joey Cora (in regards to who had the biggest impact on the outcome).

Yeah that was a total momentum killer. We didn't have the lead, and Gooch was on first. Why send him????

It goes to show how far pitching performances have slipped to still be called good. Some people still love Vazquez but thought Danny Wright sucked. Wright had a 5.18 ERA in 2002 and won 14 games for a team not nearly as good as this one. I believe Danny's paycheck was $220,000 total that year.

I have no clue. We were smacking the ball around the field against Hernandez. Cora has to realize that not only is Iguchi slow, but Sanders was playing Thome so deep that it didn't take him very long to retrieve the ball.

I don't see how anyone defends Javy. He is by far the player I hate the most recently.

Twins won

Crede has shown no patience tonight.

Can't help but notice Damaso Marte moved to 0-6 without recording an out.

That was the type of pitch Crede drives when he's swinging the bat extremely well.

Bingo. ERA's and win totals that are VERY similar to what Javy will end up with this year.

Nice at bat there Joe!!!

Has Hernandez been this large his entire career?

He looks smaller now than he did earlier in the year.

Nice uppercut swing Juan.

Twins lead 4-0 going to the 9th, so we return to a 2 game lead in the WC race if we lose.

Nice AB Juan!! We look IN A HURRY to get home and in bed tonight.

even more reason we need to rally

It's come to that point in the game where DJ tries to puff up a s***ty pitcher into a great one.

Looking at a broader point of view, isn't it amazing how similar so many of Vazquez's outings are? It's like a bad movie on rerun.

Its real often that you see a garbage pitcher shut down the best O in the game. It takes some skill to get yourself out like this. We must love creating a huge hole to climb out of. When Detroit faces the Royals they beat the living crap out of them. When the twins face the Royals, they sweep them at home. When we face the Royals we get shut down by a terrible pitcher, because we are trying to park every pitch.
