September 21, 200619 yr What is the record for the most GIDPs by a player in a single game? Anybody ever make more than three?
September 21, 200619 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) What a disappointing end to a terrific season for Crede. not much you can do when your discs are all out of whack. too bad indeed.
September 21, 200619 yr QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) What is the record for the most GIDPs by a player in a single game? Anybody ever make more than three? CLee grounded into 3 DPs a few years ago, I think 2 times with the bases loaded in an extra inning loss to Boston.
September 21, 200619 yr It would be nice to see Joe take a few more walks and stop popping up. People keep talking about his .290 average, but his OBP is actually less than Podsednik's.

September 21, 200619 yr QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) It would be nice to see Joe take a few more walks and stop popping up. People keep talking about his .290 average, but his OBP is actually less than Podsednik's. Indeed. Joe has improved so much over the last couple years. If he can just exhibit a little more patience/discipline, he'll be one of the top 25 players or so in the game. I really believe that.
September 21, 200619 yr If he stays dangerous at the plate, pitchers will start to be more selective with Crede. It's then up to him if he wants to start taking those pitches and drawing walks, or not taking them and playing like s***. His average may end up dipping a little in doing so, but overall he'll be a better hitter. Also, I don't care too much that Crede's OBP is less than Podsednik's. To go back to rudimentary baseball, Joe's getting paid to drive in runs. Podsednik is getting paid to score runs. Therefore, Crede's got an exception, due to his high average and slugging. Podsednik's pisspoor OBP is not acceptable. Obviously you'd like to see Crede get on base more, but him drawing walks is what's separating him from being a #3 hitter and being a #6/7 hitter.
