White Sox @ Minnesota 9/30/2006

What a ridiculas start time after a night game for a team playing for the Division title. This should be the best baseball of the year but you have Kong, Thome, Dye, Pierzynski, Mauer, and White not in the game. These line ups look like they are from Arizona.

Chicago WSox
Scott Podsednik LF .262
Brian Anderson CF .230
Ross Gload 1B .320
Josh Fields 3B .083
Rob Mackowiak DH .283
Tadahito Iguchi 2B .278
Alex Cintron SS .286
Ryan Sweeney RF .192
Sandy Alomar C .209
  Jon Garland P (17-7, 4.61)

Minnesota
Nick Punto 3B .295
Luis Rodriguez 2B .234
Mike Redmond C .351
Michael Cuddyer RF .282
Justin Morneau 1B .320
Torii Hunter CF .279
Jason Kubel DH .244
Jason Tyner LF .312
Jason Bartlett SS .310
  Matt Garza P (3-5, 5.32)

Interesting line up but once again why is the oldest player on our team still playing? Well .... Jose has probally 10 years on him but still ...

That's one F'ed up lineup. At least Mack is DH'ing. One more to 90. Yippee.

I bet Jim Leyland is happy about this.

First opportunity I have to watch Garza for an entire game.

I wouldn't have been confident regardless of the lineup, but with Konerko/Dye/Thome gone 10 strikeouts from Garza woudn't surprise me.

I like Brian as a 2-hole hitter. Let's see if he can't produce.

He can't.

Let's see Fields vs. Garza. Best of both organizations right here.

Fields doubles, but is stranded. Ground rule double saved a run.

Is there a reason why MLB.tv is blacked out for this game? I thought it was suposed to be played.

Considering they aren't in the lineup I would be REALLY surprised.

So who won that organizatiton battle? The Sox with Fields, or the Twins with the turf?

Fields and Sweeney have looked far more impressive than Anderson did during his first several weeks of major league experience. Both appear to have a sense of plate discipline.

I'm just not impressed by Garza. Or Bonser for that matter.

Minny's going three and out next week against NY. Book it.

Anderson had it handed to him too fast, IMO. He didn't earn it. And his reluctance to go play winter ball after tanking so bad this season really leaves me in doubt about him.

No one could deny his pure stuff. Problem is his command this afternoon.

His faces New York with this command they'll walk him to death.

Garza sucks.

There I said it. :)

I can only imagine the reaction of some of our posters if a Sox prospect when 2.2 IP, 8 H, 2 BB, 4 ER, and 3 K's (two off of someone like Brian Anderson)

After watching the first 3 innings, I came to this conclusion: boy, did our starting LF and CF suck this year. In a game where we're playing basically our entire bench, Pods and Anderson are the worst players in our lineup.

Mack still looking good against RHP

I wish Rob had atleast Average CF defensive skills ...

I wish Ozzie at least had Average managing skills and put Mack in LF.

Very true.

He was never "reluctant" he just didn't jump for joy.

I hope the Twins like New York :)

The constant need to defend Brain Anderson. I just don't get it.

the pods era coming to a close...

:cheers

Nice pitching by Garland. Glad he's finishing the season with a quality start.

I'd really be interested in watching Haegar pitch.

Whether today or tomorrow it doesn't matter. Just like to see how his knuckle works in the controlled conditions of the dome.

Nice to see Iguchi hit the ball far.

its good to see our youngsters taking care of business. Hope for years to come.. These youngins along with the fans still showing up to games should give us the resources to be competitive for a good amount of time.. unless someone screws up big time.

P.s. Pods is 0-4.. just throwin that out there.
