Reinsdorf speaks

Funny how Reinsdorf and Williams are now crying poor this off-season after coming off an attendance record in 2006.

This is the typical White Sox behavior before sending a player packing. Slammed Big Frank before showing him the door, same happened with Ordonez...Come spring training, they'll have Hawk on air talking about how the Sox can't afford Buehrle in the "current landscape" of major league baseball...This is not what I would expect a team to do with the face of the franchise along with Konerko.

I thought winning a World Series would perhaps change the approach within the organization and at least show some class to the guys who went out there and won a ring.

But now that the market is being set and it looks as though Buehrle will command at least 13-15 mil a season, let's bring up the old news that he wore a Cardinals hat to a World Series a couple of months ago to start the Buehrle bashing so it'll take some of the negative press away when the Sox fail to open their pockets.

My suggestion would be to start working on a new deal for the best pitcher this organization has seen since Jack McDowell. Anything less is a huge mistake and probably won't ever be forgotten by this fan.

You know, for someone trying to convince us that signing a 28 year old pitcher who's logged a ton of innings to a huge 5 or 6-year deal is a smart thing to do, you might want to evoke a different memory than Blackjack.

Just saying.

Aboz that was one of the great posts of all time.

Great comments. I agree with all. Awesome.

Yes, because dismissing Buehrle's headgear as old news because he wore it 2 months ago while bringing up moves made by the front office 1-2 years ago to support your own argument is not remotely hypocritical.

They're not crying poor. They're just not gonna be stupid and foolish with their resources. I don't blame them.

Huh? Weren't you doing the most Frank hating of anybody? lol. And I really do love Mark Buehrle. But I ain't payin' his ass 15 million a year if it was up to me. I can't blame Kenny and Jerry for not wanting to, either.

C'mon now, Aboz. You should know better. This is all one big game. Players are gonna do what's best for them. GMs/Owners are gonna do what they think is best for the franchise. Again, there's only two or 3 pitchers in the game that I would pay 13-15 million dollars for. And Freddy, Mark or any current White Sox pitcher ain't one of them

No true White Sox fan could hate on Buehrle for doing what's best for him. If some team offers him 15 million a year for 5 years, he would be a fool not to take it. I don't think that was Jerry's intention at all.

What the hell did McDowell do after his CY-young season in '93? What will Buehrle do from this point on? You could make a legitimate argument that Mark's best days are behind him. I don't think that's the case. But what we saw from him the last 3 months of last season was pathetic. Was it a fluke? Was he hurt? He says he was perfectly healthy. So that right there makes me wonder.
