Did quick really post in this thread? Amazing. This sounds like KW is shopping Tracey around. Maybe he was talking to the phils about something, but i cant see us getting Rowand back at all.

KW went and asked Tracey if he would like to be traded because he wasn't going to be given much of a shot now around here. Did the same with Baj and Rogo as well

I have a feeling that this has something to do with that. As soon as KW talks to ANYONE in the Phils org people assume that we are getting Rowand. At this point Anderson and Erstad are better than A-row so it makes no sense for us there. We could possibly look at more picks or a better 4th of, but not for Rowands price tag.

I'd be all for a trade of Rowand for Logan, even though I know it won't happen.

I think the ship has sailed on Rowand, and if we are looking into another CF it should be Baldelli. To accomplish that we will need to lock up MB first to give our rotation stability. The next move would be to send BA to the Marlins who are in dire need for a CF for some pitching. Then turn that pitching combined with some of the young arms we have for Baldelli.

I have seen rumors that teams have been more interested in BJ Upton as an outfield possibilty so he may be an option, but you never know what his defense will be like.

What are we trying to lead the majors in depth at 4th OF.

If we give up Mike McDougal for Rowand then Ozzie has compromising photos of KW. Sean Tracey, and poo to be named later is enough.

Im all for Rowand, i think he would definitely help guys like Crede want to stay.

Yeah, but the White Sox dont really want Crede to stay. Our top prospect plays his position.

I realize this is in jest, but, I wonder just how much it would take to reacquire Rowand.

Clearly, guys like Rogowski, Sean Tracey, Paulino Reynoso, and, to a lesser extent, Heath Phillips have no future roles in this organization. However, that is not to say they wouldn't be valuable elsewhere.

I wonder if a package of spare parts could reacquire Rowand--something along the lines of Rogowski-Tracey-Phillips, or even something with Luis Terrero as the Phillies have zero depth in the outfield as it is.

I didn't shed a tear when Rowand left; but, for some illogical, irrational reason, I was excited when I read something may actually be in the works (this is far more logical than past Rowand reports). As much as it pains me to admit it, chemistry actually did have a major role in that magical 2005 season. With Rowand back in the clubhouse, maybe some of those good vibes will be back.

Once again, if we could get Rocco Baldelli for a reasonable price, there wouldn't be rumors abounding about Aaron Rowand.

can we just sticky this thread for the next 5 years?

I would have like to see Michael Barrett punch ARow and see what would have happened.

If we gave up Phillips we would be on the losing end of that deal.

Rowand sure helped lead the Phils to a World Series.

I wasn't aware that he was the biggest reason that we won it all. Or even one of the top 5.

Why's that? Phillips isn't even on the radar as far as the big league team.

Here's the way I look at it: Brian Anderson sucks. Thus, if we send him down to the minors, I wouldn't mind having a platoon of Erstad/Rowand in CF.

Literally, he is probably our 10th starter, and he has no minor league options left. The guy is 100% expendable.

I personally think Phillips is a nice pitcher and has a future in the bigs.

Exactly. Absolutely right.

Also, take a look at the Phillies' left-handed pitching situation. It is really quite grim.

A guy like Phillips starts to look like an awfully big bargaining chip when dealing with a team like that.

You only deal for Rowand if he's ungodly cheap. We've got enough OF.

Which outfielders do we have that can put up decent to solid numbers vs LHP?

...but...but...but...our minor league system is stocked with outfielders!

Rowand has played on the biggest stage the game has to offer and he didn't piss down his leg. When has the White Sox organization ever shown you they could develop minor league talent?

Put major leaguers on the field.

If we were to make a deal, i'd really like a lead off hitter involved in it.

Actually, Rowand was ungodly awful during the postseason.

Ozzie loves Pods though.....it's not going to happen.

If you can swing a deal to bring Rowand back for spare parts, you pull the trigger.

...and that's all I have to say about that.

See: Rowand in New York Yankees series.

Point being: you know what you have in Rowand. That's a lot more than can be said of most of the White Sox outfielders--including this team's starting left-fielder.

Exactly. If some combination of guys like Tracey, Rogo, Phillips, etc. can get Rowand... then do it. Heck, maybe even something like Owens and one of those pitchers, so that Philly gets an OF back, I'd probably do. If it takes MacD or even Logan though, that's too much.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 06:54 AM)
We will regret dealing Boone Logan. We don't have the depth with lefty relievers to deal.

Not as much as we'll regret dealing FOR Aaron Rowand. I'm amazed somebody as smart as Kenny has this much interest in a mediocre player, ESPECIALLY when we have better guys like Dye, Erstad, and heck even Ryan Sweeney.
