Hard to argue with the fact that the White Sox are a .500 type team, as that's all they have been since the All Star break last season. Did you miss the part where they were saying Vazquez is a good hitting pitcher? And yes, Pinella does get a ton of credit for letting Marquis hit away. He's been in the AL now for the past 2 years, so if he does make solid contact, it's probably a double play.
