DePaul makes no sense for Cliff. Illinois will at least be in a win-soonish mode. DePaul will still be terrible.

 

The only way it makes sense is for a guy who wants to be the "man" and the savior all at the same time. Look at a guy like Rose who won't lower himself to recruiting other guys.

Turning around DePaul would be much bigger than anything he could do at Illinois. Granted it won't happen, but if the kid actually believes it is a possibility, it doesn't really matter what reality is.

I get what you are saying, but he'll have a chance to mildly turn around a program for one year, or possibly be the guy that really helps turn Illinois into a national power again, possible FF/NC possibilities, etc. Illinois isn't Depaul, but it isn't Kansas either. What he can accomplish at Illinois is much larger, it's just that Depaul is much lower starting out.

The problem is who knows what is going on in this kids head, and who has his ear. 17 year olds are strange beasts.

 

He's been treated like a star for years now, and it's clear he loves the attention. And why shouldn't he? I'd be living it up if i were him.

Groce on a roll with 3 top 50 kids in less than 2 months. Williams is the first Simeon kid to EVER commit before his senior season. That is so huge for future recruiting at the best school in the state.

That isn't entirely true. Nunn actually committed to Texas A&M before his senior year. Of course he didn't end up there but still.

It was in reference to Kansas being massive favorites for him according to just about everyone. Well, they are no long huge favorites, and apparently not the favorite at all anymore so it is moot.

 

Also, On Scout Premium, they said KU not feeling good about Cliff. Really had to push him to come to get one last word in. Hopefully good news for Illinois.
