Looks like Gavin is throwing his fastball around 89 mph now....shocking!

His ball 2 on Jeter was 92

This is Gavin's audition for Jose's spot I'd have to think.

I wonder if they'll consider Gio for Jose's next start.

Haha, I just found out Guillen was thrown out in the 1st inning. How fitting...

Buehrle Garland Javy Danks Gio would be a nice rotation for 2008.

We need to see Gio in AAA first I'd think. Although it's not unheard of to callup a guy from AA.

Cuzzy = Donaghy?

Paulie gets tossed. AJ will undoubtedly get tossed tonight as well.

Wow...this night just keeps getting better. I think this team is just frustrated now. SHaping up to be the worst season since 1994 or 1989.

What pitches does Gio have, and how hard does he throw?

There's that plague lurking right now as well.

I'm sure his fastball is at 89 mph.

Is that sarcasm?

He has a + curve ball and a solidly 92-94mph fastball. I think he is working on a change as well.

Like Fathom said, expect him to be around 89 by the time he gets to Chicago.

When I saw him during ST, his fastball was at 89 mph.

what was paulie tossed for?

I like the 92-94, but not the 89 :pray

We were wondering in the chat, has anyone seen jphat around here lately?

It sure seems coincidental he hasn't posted since it became obvious this season is over. Hmmmm.

Well I just googled it and some early scouting reports from his AA days had him in the mid 90s.

Here is a snippet from a story in 2005

HAGERSTOWN, MD. -- Gio Gonzalez is considered by some to be the top pitching prospect in the White Sox organization, if not all of baseball. The hard-throwing southpaw with the slight build has been clocked consistently in the mid-90s on the gun, and complements that heat with a wicked curveball and a solid changeup. He's 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA for Class A Kannapolis, easily handling much of what the South Atlantic League has to offer.

His 38 strikeouts in 22 innings was tops among the entire Minor Leagues at one point this season, but Gonzalez hasn't pitched since straining a right oblique muscle on April 23 against Hickory. He struck out 10 and allowed only four hits in his six innings of work that day, but hasn't been back on a mound since.

MiLB.com caught up with Gonzalez on Monday evening at Hagerstown's Memorial Stadium after he went through nearly two hours of treatment and rehab work. On a chilly, gray evening, Gonzalez took time to discuss his injury, his approach to pitching and what he likes to do in his spare time

No jphat sightings...I hope he's ok, all jokes aside.

Gavin Floyd just has no prayer against lefties. It looks like he throws a hanging fastball.

Another dinger for the Yankees. Floyd hasn't looked good at all since coming to Chicago.

Floyd is showing some good breaking stuff, but WTF -- I thought your fastball was supposed to go up a couple MPH when you moved to the bullpen. 91 MPH? GMAB.

So, Williams, mind telling us where this Arizona Fall League Floyd is going to show up?

Every day that passes I'm doubting Williams more and more. Atleast if Floyd is going to pitch terribly he can do it out of the rotation, instead of hte bullpen. Guage how much he sucks over a period of 10+ starts.
