A-Rod deserves his own thread

He's the youngest ever to 500, right?

That is more impressive than the arbitrary milestone, imho.

Yes it will. If A-Rod ends this year with 510, and hits exactly 40 a year for the next 10 years, he'll end up with 810. Scary.

Yes because its highly probable that A Rod hits 40 Hrs when hes 40, 41, 42..

Im sure there will be ZERO HGH/Steroid questions if A Rod doesn't decline at any point after 35 years old.. And even if there is, HGH is undetectable, so good luck proving that..

And that's the scary part, because we know every year he will hit more then 40, some years maybe 50 or so. So he could hit 33-39 when he's 40, 41, and 42, and he'd still hit 810.

Yes, it would be very scary if he does that.. however.. history says he most likely wont still be hitting that many.. there was a pretty good article on ESPN talking about the same thing

Haha, thanks. I hit the 8 instead of the 9. My bad.

Bonds homerun average per year before 31 years old-30.3(334 total)

Bonds homerun average per year after 31 years old-39.1(431 total)

A-rod homerun average before 31 years old-39.8(518 total)

the totals after 31 were figured from their on pace for this year...A-rod on pace for 54(50+3 times), Bonds for 31(hit over 50 once, 73)

If A-rod keeps that average he beats Aaron/current Bonds Record in 6 seasons for 755. If he averages 30 to 35 homeruns until he's 40 he will have approximately 790 to 830. A-rod played less than 148 games once (129). I say he's pretty durable...granted he'll get older and probably get banged up and miss some games, hell he might DH later in his career if he stays in the AL, that could only help him stay healthy.

I can't think of an argument against A-rod not breaking Bonds' established record whatever it will be when he finishes.

I see A-rod demolishing Bonds' record.

Anyway, congratulations to Alex. If the kid didn't have Scott Borass as his agent, he would be one of the most popular players of all time.

I think the "Playing for the Yankees" issue also hurts him quite a bit.

Arod for 1,000? If he follows Bonds pattern it's possible.

Dude, not even Barry Bonds could follow tetrahydrogestrinone's patterns.

It would be sweet if we could keep this thread going for the 6 or 7 years it takes AROD to break Bonds record. :)
