I think that Pax almost will have to let him go unless this season turns dramatically around. Either that or no one offers him jack squat and he takes the 1 year tender to try to put up some non-terrible numbers.

If Gordon ever wants to be a starter, he'll need to play alongisde a big PG, a Chauncey Billups or a Deron Williams for example.

 

Otherwise he'll probably be stuck what he's doing now because of his defense.

Yawn, another comparison to two far better young players on Portland. Wake me up when one of the Bulls' young guys can even do what Roy and Aldridge did during their rookie seasons with any kind of consistency.

 

Thabo and Noah are playing better now and should get more minutes (which they have been of late), but lets not pretend that they're (and throw Tyrus in there as well) the key to being a competitive team right now, or even next year for that matter. Any immediate team success is going to depend on the play of the "older" guys. I put that in quotes because Deng and Gordon are 22 and 24 respectively, and even Kirk and Noc are only 27 and 28.

Not a big fan of Radmanovic, but if it allowed us to move Wallace's contract and more importantly freed up his 30 minutes a game for the young big guys we have who are already as effective if not more so, I could put up with it.

Ya Smith's logic was basically Noah is the young Wallace now, and the Lakers need a big with Bynum out (but I think they're just going to sign Webber).

 

Radmanovic is overpaid, but at least he can shoot the 3 I guess, not much else though.

It looks like it'd be worth it just to get rid of Wallace's contract right now, even if you have to eat a nasty one in Radmanovic (6 mil a year through 2011). Give Noah most of those minutes, and if you can't include Brown's contract in a deal to get someone like Gasol you can play him 15 a game or so as a backup center (Tyrus can't really play there, Gray probably shouldn't play 20-ish a game), then maybe try to sign someone useful in free agency (though unfortunately it's more likely they'd just roll the money into Deng and/or Gordon's extension).

Memphis reportedly wants to include Brian Cardinal, who's owed $13 million over the next two seasons, in any deal for Gasol. In return, the Grizzlies likely would want Andres Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah.

 

Don't know how I feel about trading Noah. I'd prefer to hold onto him and try to include someone else, but if it must be done then the price isn't too shabby.

That deal borders on highway robbery in terms of talent. Sure, Noah hurts a bit and you'd rather keep him, but if a rookie bench player that's basically a younger Anderson Varejao is the piece you're most worried about losing in a deal for an All-Star caliber big man, that's pretty damn good. The only possible way that deal can come back to bite us in the ass is if Tyrus turns into a star, and we haven't seen a whole lot of signs of that recently.

 

There's one major problem though: that deal isn't even CLOSE to working financially. Cardinal's nasty little deal (what kind of retard signed that?!) means we'd be bringing in an awful lot of salary. It doesn't help that Nocioni is a base year compensation player. The Bulls would need to add over $7 mil to make it work financially. Even if you add Duhon, Khryapa, and Curry you still come up short, which means they'd either have to dump Wallace and try to get an expiring contract (there's zero chance Memphis would take it) or see if PJ Brown would still do a sign and trade to help them out.

Nice victory tonight. Hinrich lit it up with a 38/7/10 line playing along side Thabo.

 

Noch and Noah also with very nice evenings.

 

Tyrus Thomas also put up a similar line to Ben Wallace in less than half the minutes. Ben needs to be gone like yesterday.

Noah is starting to look like a real NBA player, which is nice and somewhat surprising. A lot of people compared him to Tyson Chandler when he was at Florida, and at least for one night, we saw why.

A report out of New Jersey said the Nets are interested in Bulls forward Andres Nocioni.

 

According to the Bergen Record, the teams have discussed a multiplayer trade in which Nocioni and guard Thabo Sefolosha would go to New Jersey for forward Bostjan Nachbar, guard Marcus Williams, guard Antoine Wright and center Jamaal Magloire.

The more I look at this deal the more I LOVE IT.

 

Nachbar, Magloire, and Wright all come off the books at the end of the season.

 

Wright you re-sign, he's making 1.7 mill right now. Magloire is a no-brainer, you let him walk and clear $4 million in salary, Nachbar, maybe re-sign him for cheap, maybe not, if he walks, you clear another 2.5 mill in salary.

 

Marcus Williams gives us a true point guard, and is locked up for 3 years after this at 1.26, 2.05, and 3.00 million. That's incredibly affordable. I think Williams would look great here.

 

We basically get rid of the awful Nocioni contract and get a couple pieces we could use in Wright and Williams and MAYBE Nachbar, who can at least score with his back to the basket (nice hook shot). This deal really seems like a no-brainer because it gives Pax the flexibility he needs to either make another trade with these pieces or to just have some cap space cleared for next year... and it makes us a bit younger.
