January 22, 200818 yr link From NYTIMES Actor Heath Ledger Is Found Dead By Sewell Chan The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28. At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body. Mr. Ledger, a native of Perth, Australia, won acclaim for his role as a co-star in “Brokeback Mountain”, a 2005 film. The film, based on a novel by Larry McMurtry about two cowboys who fall in love, won critical acclaim. Reviewing the film in The New York Times, the critic Stephen Holden wrote, “Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a great screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.” Thomas J. Lueck contributed reporting. Edited January 22, 200818 yr by Steve9347
January 22, 200818 yr Not to be too glib, but has filming wrapped completely on the next Batman movie?
January 22, 200818 yr Man, that is awful. Pray for his kids. He has "The Dark Knight" coming out this summer. Sad.
January 22, 200818 yr QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) Not to be too glib, but has filming wrapped completely on the next Batman movie? I hope so... nothing a little CGI can't fix, but this is just crazy. I wasn't aware he had any issues but it seems to be drug related.
January 22, 200818 yr QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) MSNBC apparently reporting that he was found surrounded by pills. The "pills" part is on Wikipedia too, so...
January 22, 200818 yr I really liked him. I even earned the nicknames "Brokeback" and "Heath Ledger" after dressing like a cowboy for a debate competition; instead of being insulted, I was proud. This is awful news; sad to hear.
January 22, 200818 yr That places anyone with him in a death with an early early lead. That's as big as River Phoenix.
January 22, 200818 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) I also assume the movie is done. This does however put a cramp on the next film, assuming he was going to be in it, which I thought I heard he was... The film is in post production. Absolutely brutal news especially since he had a young child.
January 22, 200818 yr QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) Were he and Michele Williams still together? no
January 22, 200818 yr "Surrounded by pills" doesn't necessarily sound like a drug problem - sounds like a suicide. He may or may not have been abusing. Very sad. I really liked his acting a lot. So terrible at such a young age to lose such a great talent.
January 22, 200818 yr QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) The drugs in young Hollywood are out of control... I think that's safe to say. Yeah... everytime I read about an actor overdosing for some reason I always think Chris Farley... so sad.
January 22, 200818 yr QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) Were he and Michele Williams still together? You don't have a chance
January 22, 200818 yr he was actually in an apartment owned by Mary-Kate Olsen. Story's going to get even weirder.
