yeah ... that wasn't pretty at all. Poor guy had a tough night on the national stage.

I felt bad for him, he was playing on a sprained ankle. Im sure his lateral movement was killing him while fielding

Hey, at least he wasnt Dan Uggla

I felt bad for that kid. But, Carlos' shot at him was a scorcher

speaking of the ASG, quentin was terrible

I guess that's the breaks of the game and why baseball can be such a humbling sport. One day you hit 4 homers and the next K 4 times with the bases loaded.

Just curious if anybody agrees with me or saw this as I did.

On the ground rule double tonight in the All-Star game, it looked like the fan actually went out of his way to not interfere with the ball in play, diving out of the way and pulling his hands back as the ball indeed kicked into the stands for the groundrule double anyhow.

I commend that fan.

You do not see that often. Fans are always trying to grab the ball even if it's in play.

Has anybody else ever seen a fan make sure he doesn't interfere?

I noticed it too. That was great. He is a true fan of the game. I have seen a few fans over the years throw their arms out trying to block people from reaching but not often enough.

eh, maybe he just didnt feel like being the jack*ss who got ejected from the allstar game for interference

I don't know if they kick people out when they grab balls that are close to them.

This was in the outfield nowhere near the outfielder's glove. The guy simply dove out of the way as the ball kicked up high. Had he grabbed it, I seriously doubt he'd have been ejected.

If you interfere with a ball in play, you are automatically ejected from any park in the major leagues. If the ball ends up being a ground rule double because you reached into the field to grab a ball, no matter if it is near a glove or not, it is interference.

I was at a Royals game where they simply did not eject a guy for doing just that.

Must be different rules in KC.

Carlos with the number 10 webgem of the first half.

I didnt see it, was it the play where he threw out a runner at first after a catch in left? I dont remember which team he did that against, but it was awesome

Yea, that was the play, vs the Tigers. Renteria was the one who got doubled up at first

I don't remember the whole list, but I'm pretty sure all three of those teams didn't have a single person on it.

That's cause we are better :gosoxretro:

this team is so good and so bad, they are not a winning team if they make the playoffs, there's just no consistency

this is from watching this team all year long, too. not just tonights game.

even the games we win, i tell myself, this is a weird team

it's because they beat themselves so much, it's ridiculous

how many errors is crede pushing, almost 20? yeah that's amazing. and we're worrying about fields defense.

The 06 Cards disagree.

Really though, it's just a matter of how the team is playing come postseason time. If they are dragging along, they'll get swept; if they're playing well, they might only lose 3 games all postseason. This team is more hot and cold than anything else. One thing that they have going for them is the pitching staff, and I see it remaining one of the best in the majors.

Gavin is starting to remind me of Javy "I can't go more than 5-6 innings/Always expect the big inning from me" Vazquez, anyone else see this alarming trend lately?

Gavin gave up 1ER in 6 innings with a lot of k's. He goes 7 if it weren't for Crede being horrid over at 3B. I don't see the comparison at all. Gavin threw a good game last night. Ozzie's managing of the pen and the execution of the pen a whole other story.

Dye is expected back Tuesday, per Cowley.

lost in all the hate of everything that is black and white on the South Side last night was that Vazquez had another good outing; that's 2 of the 3 where he's turned it around and pitched better. Getting him straightened out would be a big boost down the stretch.

Jermaine Dye back in the starting lineup per Cowley

We are 4-6 since Paulie's return to the starting lineup.

And the bullpen or starting pitching were responsible for most of those losses. Only a couple games in there did the offense not show up, and are you going to seriously blame PK for the entire offense in those instances?

Or was Paulie on the mound and I missed it?

I posted a FACT which is just a statistic, have I ever blamed Paulie for loosing any of these games?

I thought it would be interesting to see.

And, as this is a message board, facts provoke discussion. I posted my OPINION, that aligning that record with Paulie's return is similar to some of the correlations between Super Bowl winners and Presidential election winners. Correlation is not causation.

I like this team better with Swisher @ 1B, and speedy Wise/Anderson platoon in CF, unless Paulie gets hot which I hope he does soon.
