I didn't feel this one...I did feel the one a couple years back. I remember posting on here about it.

is it normal for it to happen 5 hours later though?

Aftershocks of some size are normal for days to weeks after an event. The larger the event, the longer it takes to return to a normal background seismicity rate.

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A second earthquake struck southern Illinois today, following a earlier temblor this morning. Both were felt throughout Chicago.

The second quake measured 4.5 magnitude and hit at 10:14 a.m. The first one, with a magnitude of 5.2 struck early Friday, around 4:30 a.m.

There were no injuries or structural damage reported in Northern Illinois, but many people were curious and even panicked.

I haven't felt a single thing all day in Normal, but there is construction right outside my window so I might have just attributed it to that.

I felt it, I live about 1 block from some train tracks so that's what I thought it was, then the news this morning explained it all!

My wife and I said the EXACT some thing. we both kinda remember briefly waking up around that time. I remember rolling over. but it could just be a coincidence.

Well I just talked to one of our neighbors and I guess it really shook things up around here. My roommates and I all slept through it, that's how drunk we were I guess.

My mom woke up to her dresser shaking a bit early this AM. I didn't feel nothing.

ahh ok. That would make sense then.

apparently people have been feeling them here in bloomington. I still haven't felt anything.

Me and a couple of friends were in my Garage playing Ping Pong after work when it hit and didnt feel nothing my buddies fiance called who lives in Streator, IL said there was an Earthquake and even he thought she nuts then about 5:30 I come in and turn on the Tv and what do ya know there was a Quake

Some people talked about feeling them all the way out by me. I was out, but did wake up briefly right around 4:30...

its funny because in a gamethread about a week ago big bobby fell to the ground, and i was only watching on gameday,....fathom joked that an earthquake was felt in chicago....i replied "anymore on that?"...people naturally laughed at me because fathom made a joke, but i said i thought maybe the new madrid had gone off, because some geologists say its a ticking time bomb... til someone explained to me what happened during the game....kind of a bit of eerie forshadowing i suppose

The last time it really went (1812), it is estimated that is was an 8.0 on the Richter scale. Church bells supposedly rang as far away as Boston. When that thing goes there's going to be a LOT of damage.

Dude I thought the same thing as soon as I heard the news on this.I read it as truth too when he made that joke. :lolhitting

I did yell at my dog when I woke up. I thought they were supposed to have a 6th sense about earthquakes, and he slept right through it!!

Balta, all the quakes here are intraplate earthquakes, right?
