Dear Ozzie

Featured Replies

Dear Ozzie, please pinch hit Jim Thome in the right spots this weekend. So when Scott Eyre is warming up or in the game, don't have Thome pinch hit so we can see an automatic strikeout.

Thanks

Dear WhiteSoxfan1986, Thome is slugging and hitting better against LHP's this year, so get it right.

Thanks

Still would much rather see him hit against a righty.

Edit: Especially against a guy with a good slider like Eyre.

I want to see him play first base. It probably won't happen, despite the article on the team web page.

Frank Thomas's career nearly ended because he was playing 1b during interleague play.

It happening to one player isn't really enough to make me afraid it would happen again. I wouldn't be completely shocked if Jim hurt his back, though. Maybe its a bad idea and it probably won't happen. Anyway its a good thing its up to ozzie, not me.

What if ozzie wants to double switch in the 8th or something though? I think he should not hesitate to play thome at first if he has to.

career wise Thome has not done well vs lefties im not going to let half a season of stats to persuade me otherwise. I want Lilly on bench for the first game and than he can start the other 2.

Can Toby play first base? I'd rather have him in the lineup than Swish tomorrow.

The same Toby Hall that dove for a ball at first base and tore his labrum?

The same Nick Swisher that sports a 1.244 OPS in 15 career ABs vs Ted Lilly?

Why would you want Lilly starting two of three games?

Frank tore a muscle in his arm in a game against the Seattle Mariners. I think it was in May of 2001, and it was very cold.

You beat me to it. I was there. It wasn't that cold.

The other thing I remember about that game...we were sitting down the left field line just past the dugout and a chick got hit by a foul ball and went down immediately. Another chick nest to us was a nurse and ran down to help. She came back up and said, "She got hit in the leg!", rolling her eyes. Soon after the leg girl's boyfriend was carrying her up the stairs and she was balling like she was going to die.

Back on topic, just PH Thome. The rest of the season is more important than these three games.

Career wise Jim Thome is a .280/.407/.562 hitter. Are you going to let half a season of .228/.353/.469 persuade you otherwise?

To a degree, Thome is now 38 or 39 years old... he probably only has 1 or 2 seasons left. Its not that improbable his age is catching up to him and isnt the hitter he used to be. Still half a season to pick it up though and salvage this season for him.

guess he didn't read your letter....

Um, putting Thome in with a RISP in the 9th inning against a RHP and not a Loogy is the situation you want to use Thome in.

Unfortunately, you can't make Thome not swing at the first pitch.

I know....that just really pissed me off....

Frank Thomas's career nearly ended because he was playing 1b during interleague play.

Then I'd like to formally request that Thome play 1B for the rest of the series!!
