Gotta love people who dress up for 8 AM lecture on syllabus day.

Goddamn right I'm wearing shades and my Hollister s***. Pickin up b****es ain't never been so easy.

I'm also partial to the guys that use the safety straps on their backpacks, like they're climbing a goddamn mountain.

I always found that it was funny that people would dress up, especially for the 1st day. I'm strictly a t-shirt, basketball shorts guy...especially if it's a class that damn early.

I'd wear basketball shorts if they had pockets, I have too much crap to carry around. I'm absolutely paranoid if my keys, phone and wallet aren't on me.

i should be starting today but i'm missing the first week because i'm out in NYC doing a show... lol. guess i'll be playing catchup from the get-go. but i totally agree about the mountaineering straps, head. those people rock.

Do you think maybe those people have jobs to go to after class?

I wouldn't bet on it since it's an 8 AM class. They are probably some goofy newbies at the school with no idea what they are doing. I encourage Heads to continue with random, bizarre threads though, especially when making fun of people. Good stuff.

People who wear "Hollister s***" suck, terrible clothing. It is true that pickin up b****es ain't never been so easy though, it's a great time to be an American. :gosoxretro:

Ditto. Hate the damn basketball shorts, it's like they think people will be happy just wearing them to the gym. Well no, I'd like to wear them to class sometimes too, but I can't because I have nowhere to put my f***ing s***. People need their phone, keys, and wallet at all times. Period.

Hollister just screams Im trying to be cool but cant really pull it off so I try and wear something that was possibly trendy a few years ago and has just now become available at my local mall.

Not so much a brand hater (I own A&F, American Eagle, whatnot), more or less wondering why you'd dress up for lecture.

I wasnt referring to you. I was referring to the "Hollister is s***" crowd.

Dressing up for a lecture was only required if you were speaking, IMO. Plus, being in Carbondale meant 95 degree days with 99 percent humidity on syllabus day. So going dressed to the nines was NOT HAPPENING

I have a pair that do have pockets actually, and if you're carrying a backpack why not put your crap in there?

Easier to forget it in there. If I need my wallet, and I stop by my place, I'm more likely to drop off my backpack and forget the s*** in there.

:lolhitting It continues a fashion thread.

I have a love/hate of the first day. I love that classes are short, but when you have 5 classes from 8 to 1:10, it gets pretty lame since you wait for 30+ minutes between classes. Thank god for Tuesdays and Thursdays off!

One of my teachers is awesome. Her name is Jo Ann Graf. She coached softball here for 30 years, got her PhD while coaching, and just retired after this season to become a full time college professor. I have 3 classes with her: Principle of Coaching, Intro to Sports Management, and Issues in Sports Management. Needless to say, she has a pretty good background for teaching those classes.

i rarely dressed up for class in college...but almost always refused to wear bball shorts or sweat pants/adidas style athletic pants to class too...winter was often whatever jeans were laying around + sweatshirt, while warmer weather was real shorts + tshirt or whatever i could find to wear....oh i also wore a baseball hat probably 75% of the days to class

now that im out of college though and in graduate school, i can honestly say i try to at least look nice when i go to a lecture...i think its just a difference in my attitude and how i want to be perceived...i'll at least try to wear a pair of nicer jeans and a collared shirt, but there are my days where i roll in lookin grungy too

I guess to fit the true theme of the thread, I usually go the comfortable route. For example: gym shorts (must have pockets), t-shirt, flip-flops.
