March 3, 200917 yr In Vegas the White Sox are 4-1 to win the pennant. This percentage dropped from 15-1 at the beginning of the offseason. strange in my opinion. Edited March 3, 200917 yr by Jimbo's Drinker
March 3, 200917 yr Had to be for the AL Central. I could buy that, I guess. Must have mostly to do with the positive reports on Contreras and Colon. Nothing else has changed radically with our team in recent weeks.
March 3, 200917 yr From today's LVH sports book: 7:2 to win the AL Central (3rd btw) 15:1 to win the ALCS 22:1 to win the World Series
March 3, 200917 yr QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 07:39 AM) From today's LVH sports book: 7:2 to win the AL Central (3rd btw) 15:1 to win the ALCS 22:1 to win the World Series I remember being in Vegas in Jan of 2005, and putting $20 on the Sox to win the WS. Odds that year at that time were 30:1. Then after the season ended, I couldn't find the damn ticket. Found it 2 years later when moving some furniture, after it had expired for reimbursement.

Then after the season ended, I couldn't find the damn ticket. Found it 2 years later when moving some furniture, after it had expired for reimbursement. I had done the same thing...but I didn't lose my ticket and got paid. I was just in Vegas a few weeks ago, the odds for the Sox are rediculous -- there is almost no point in betting on them as the return is minimal. Their odds are FAR better than I thought they would be.

Then again, they do change week to week...
March 3, 200917 yr QUOTE (kane0730 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) Anybody know the Sox Over/Under for the year? Nevermind, found it: 78.5
March 3, 200917 yr Author I was at the Mandalay Bay, and those were the odds. They don't have odds for the division out yet.
March 3, 200917 yr QUOTE (kane0730 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) Nevermind, found it: 78.5 I would take the over. They've only won fewer than 80 games once this entire decade and only twice in the past 13 years.

Thats a good stat. I would take the over as well. this is at least a .500 team in my mind. Edited March 3, 200917 yr by soxfan3530

March 3, 200917 yr So the over under for wins is 78.5, but their odds for winning the pennant is 4-1? Something is off there.

March 3, 200917 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Wow, they have no one under 69 wins. That is impossible. But there's a difference between actual projections, and setting numbers to get people to bet on them. edit: lol u said 69. Edited March 3, 200917 yr by lostfan

I went back 50 years and couldn't find a single season where at least one team didn't finish with less than 69 wins. If you want your winning bet, find the teams like Pittsburgh and Washington that you know will suck next year and bet them under their win totals.

Just think, if you'd taken that $600, invested it in the stock market...well, the casino might have been able to recycle that slip of paper and reduce your carbon footprint.
