this thread is not nearly as exciting as it should be.

Thank you Jim Thome. Dewayne Wise, go home.

It was 4-2.

Nice to see an opening day win. Great job by Thome and the bullpen it seems :)

We control our own destiny the rest of the way. Great feeling. HAHA.

What an official title...no AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER

BIG JIM only 58 more to go

thank you farnsworth:)

can we change to title to and THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

It's amazing how much more work I get done by not posting in the game thread. Great to see Thome pick up from last year, and excellent work by the bullpen. It's not worth getting upset about Wise, as that experiment won't last long if he struggles like he did today. Of more concern is the irresponsible base running we saw in Spring Training that continued today. It's always great to win the first game though...well done Sox!

Jim f***ing Thome! :gosox3:

Thank god for Jim Thome.

Josh Fields did a couple of things today that our last 3B couldn't DREAM of doing (that's the last time I'll compare the two.)

Getz is going to be a hell of a player for us, can't wait until we find a major league hitter to pair with him at the top.

Richard, Dotel, Jenks -> excellence

I was more concerned with Buehrle struggling against the Royals and Wise stinking it up of course as well as a terrible approach by AJ at the plate with the bases juiced. He tried to pull a ball that if he went away with it, he would've been able to leg out a triple.

Jeff Cox is leaving his mark on this club.

He's country strong! :gosox1:

Someone change the title. It does not reflect the appropriate level of excitedness

I'm 1000x more pumped about the season now that Opening Day has been played. It's 4 real now d00dz. Anyhow, great game. Great win. Great most everything but lead-off hitter man. I felt bad for him with the crowd booing, but that's how I felt on the couch too.

Buehrle had an off day, his control wasn't there very much and the umps squeezed him quite a bit. He doggedly got through 5 innings and kept the Royals to 2 runs. A lot of guys haven't had their good stuff on day one of this season. How many of them only gave up 2?

With a legit leadoff threat at the top of this order, this team could be scary good folks.

Of course, that infers we get good pitching from Jose and Colon, which is still a bit of a mystery.

Great job by the kids...As a Sox fan who is tired of being an aging, slow footed team it sure is nice to see young guns out there like Fields and Getz.

I don't see what Josh Fields did today that Crede cannot. I'm not trying to start a war or anything, and I like Fields at 3B now that he's healthy. Also, Quentin's swing seemed a bit long. Fields has a quicker swing it seems like. I really really like Getz as well.

That's why Mark Buehrle is who he is...dude is just a gamer. He's a World Champion. If he's healthy he takes his start every 5th day and I simply don't worry about him.

The good: Thome, Fields (he had a fantastic all-around game), Getz and the bullpen.

The bad: Wise, baserunning (our alarming lack of speed also has something to do with this).

Thank you Trey Hillman for not using by far your best non-closer in an ideal situation and going with a proven loser in Kyle Farnworth instead.

I'm very impressed by this Royals lineup, especially if Aviles can show anything.

Fields and Q are like bros though, so like the good vibes will create a synergy between the two that ~SHOCKS~! the AL Central and fuses the two or something cool like that.

Also nice to see Mark limit the damage to 2 runs over 5 IP. Pretty good for a guy who obviously didn't have his best stuff today.

Crede doesn't make that play Fields did coming home in I believe it was the third inning? That was all athleticism right there.

Also, I ask that mods only change the score. The reason why I placed Official Post Game Thread Winner, was because it seems like a lot of people will only post "AWESOME - THOMEZ WUZ THE MANZ". I wanted to try something different where people actually talk about the game, both good and bad. Just an idea.
