April 13, 200916 yr I think this is more talk than reality....but interesting nonetheless. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4063800
April 13, 200916 yr Ugh. The thought of that makes me sick to my stomach... Good thing they really don't have room for Thome...
April 13, 200916 yr I don't think the Indians wanna sign two mid to late 30 year olds for probably over 30 million dollars.
April 13, 200916 yr I'd change the misleading title to state that this is speculation and not fact. EDIT: Just noticed the question mark at the end of the title. The title gets snipped when viewing within the thread. Edited April 13, 200916 yr by BigSqwert
April 13, 200916 yr I know one thing for sure... with all of the power we have in the minors, I don't see a way Thome is here in 2010.
April 13, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) I know one thing for sure... with all of the power we have in the minors, I don't see a way Thome is here in 2010.Or Dye.
April 13, 200916 yr Hafner, Garko and Victor Martinez are already DH's, basically. He would make no sense. Manny would make MORE sense, but there's no way in hell that Dolan will shell out $25 million (or anything close to that) for one season of Manny. They're a lot better off with DeRosa AND Wood and another player for the same price.
April 13, 200916 yr QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Thome leaving White Sox after this season to reunite with Manny in Cleveland Not unless he: a. is willing to play for the minimum, or b. can fill one of the holes in their starting rotation
April 13, 200916 yr I edited the topic title to something more accurate and less likely to incite violence.
April 14, 200916 yr Well they should reunite here, once all our $$ comes off the books. green of course. Edited April 14, 200916 yr by Princess Dye
April 14, 200916 yr Manny's nutz. Thome should finish his career as a Sox or thats what I would like to see. Personally I wouldn't want to be on a team with Manny he's got a huge ego. Thome to me seems more passive and doesn't want to tell Manny no.
April 14, 200916 yr With the contract Hafner has right now, there's no way they'd be able to get rid of him, unless he tears the cover off the ball this year, but if he does that, they wouldn't want to get rid of him.
April 14, 200916 yr QUOTE (almagest @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) Or Dye. Dye has an option for around 10 million, and if he keeps hitting, there's no reason why we should pick it. He would move to DH, Quentin to RF. That would leave CF and LF for us to fill via FA/trade.
April 14, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) I know one thing for sure... with all of the power we have in the minors, I don't see a way Thome is here in 2010. I'm gonna miss him, but it'd be for the best.
April 14, 200916 yr I still think Buehrle will pitch in STL when it's all said and done. He might be like 37+ years old, but I still can see it. That's just my personal opinion though.
April 14, 200916 yr Manny must be one of those zany interviews. That was a wild interview about his love for Cleveland. I can't see it happening. I'll have to see it to believe it in terms of him returning there. That will be interesting to see where Thome concludes his career. On a side note, hard to believe Big Hurt still has no job. I guess the fact he can't run has ended Hurt's career. He'd have to hit it off the wall to get a double and could never at this point score on a single if he's on second base.
