7/2 Game Thread Sox @ Kansas City 7:10pm CSN+

Didn't we face him a couple years ago when he was with the O's? If I'm not mistaken, we knocked the s*** out of him... In fact, wasn't it a home game around this time?

On July 4, 2006 we beat the orioles when he pitched(He didn't start though) 13-0. I was there :headbang

His line 3.1 6 hits 3R 3ER 3BB 7K 1HR

So we did most of our damage off their other pitchers.

My prediction on the line-up tonight: Pods-Nix-Dye-Thome-Kong-AJ-Beckham-Getz-BA

I hope it's:

Pods-Nix-Dye-Konerko-AJ-Anderson-Beckham-Getz-Fields

Thome doesn't look good up there lately, especially against LHP's.

Thome hit the ball hard off of Sowers last night. Although that's really not saying much. And BA in the 6th spot is a scary thought. Hopefully Ozzie will leave him batting 9th the rest of the year.

Anderson hit in the 6 hole in Cincinnati all 3 games, if I'm not mistaken.

He had a hit or 2 in each game, I believe.

He had a 2 hit game on Sat. during the Cincy series. He went 1-4 in the other 2 games. Since then, he's 3-20 (.150). IMHO, 9th is where he belongs.

He batted 7th in the first game and got one hit, batted 5th the second game and got two hits, in the third game he batted 5th and got one hit.

The fun things that come from small sample sizes. This season, here's anderson's batting average and OPS depending on where he hits in the order.

Batting #5 0.231 0.594

Batting #6 0.25 0.603

Batting #7 0.22 0.645

Batting #8 0.160 0.460

Batting #9 0.326 0.860

Good thing he's batting 9th tonight...

Pods 7, Nix 6, JD 9, Thome dh, PK 3, AJ 2, Beckham 5, Getz 4, BA 8.

Here are the lineups:

WHITE SOX

Podsednik lf

Nix ss

Dye rf

Thome dh

Konerko 1b

Pierzynski c

Beckham 3b

Getz 2b

Anderson cf

Buehrle p

KANSAS CITY

DeJesus lf

Bloomquist ss

Butler 1b

Guillen rf

Teahen 3b

Olivo c

Jacobs dh

Callaspo 2b

Maier cf

Chen p

Pods 7

Nix 6

JD 9

Thome dh

PK 3

AJ 2

Beckham 5

Getz 4

BA 8

I like keeping Beckham at 3B, I also like moving him up a bit in the order. That bottom 3 could make a lot of action on the basepaths.

LOL, I'm going to try riding this, he's going to be my PTC. If he comes up in the 5th inning by some chance, it'll be every weird Anderson statistic all combined in 1 at bat.

i wonder if it's hard for him to watch guys like Beckham and Getz come up and immediately be more effective hitters than him. Hope he doesn't press, it's the last thing he needs to do.

How long until Alex Gordon comes off the DL? I thought this was going to be his breakout year

He'll be in Omaha (Triple-A) Friday, and NW Arkansas (Double-A) after that. Due back after the All-Star Break.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 07:36 AM)
Didnt he have the same hip surgery ARod had?

Yes.

QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 09:22 AM)
Have we seen him before :lolhitting

Bruce Chen (0-1, 5.68): will be making his second start for the Royals. In 6.1 innings at Pittsburgh on Saturday, he allowed 7 hits, 4 earned runs, walked none, and struckout 2. He is 0-1 with a 5.66 ERA in 6 games (2 starts) against the White Sox during his career.

Notables

- A.J. Pierzynski: 5-for-9 (.566), 1 home run

- Scott Podsednik: 4-for-9 (.444), 1 home run

- Paul Konerko: 3-for-8 (.375), 2 home runs

+ Jermaine Dye: 1-for-9 (.111)

Should be a nice series Mileage. You, benchwarmerjim (Twins) Jacktai (tigers) etc.. I personally love other posters from different teams here. Really knowledgeable stuff you guys bring. Not the usual "dumbass virus/hackjob poster." Makes ST that much better than any site IMO especially considering we definitely have the most overseas posters around.

Thanks!

Mark Buehrle (7-2, 3.26): is winless in two starts against the Royals this season, but has allowed just 5 runs in 12.1 innings, while giving up 13 hits, striking out 9, and walking 3. The White Sox won both games. He is 19-8 with a 3.48 ERA in 40 games (38 starts) against Kansas City during his career, and 9-6 with a 3.68 ERA in 19 starts at Kauffman Stadium.

Notables

- Willie Bloomquist: 11-for-22 (.500), 1 double, 1 triple

- Mark Teahen: 20-for-47 (.426), 7 doubles, 1 home run

- Billy Butler: 8-for-26 (.308), 2 home runs

+ David DeJesus: 9-for-59 (.153), 1 double, 1 home run, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts

I saw Mark warming up and I was wondering what happened to the road-grays. It seems like the Sox only wear black now. Does anybody know why? Go Sox, hopefully they'll continue the winning streak.

Bruce Chen? What is this 2000 and Bruce Chen is still an up and coming prospect?

ugh

Bruce Almighty through one.

Buehrle's whole family in audience according to Farmer.

Got mlb.tv on and there's no commentary. Is there something I should know?

Bloomquist singles to CF with 1 out.
