September 24, 200916 yr saw this on ESPN Rumor Central and it made me laugh. Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov wants to move the New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn. So what's that have to do with the Islanders? Well, if Prokhorov builds the new arena east of Manhattan, there could be a new potential home for the Islanders, Newsday writes. Several Islanders fans voiced their bias toward Brooklyn over the other relocation option, Kansas City because, for Long Islanders, Brooklyn's a little bit closer. But then again...they wouldn't be the Islanders anymore, now would they?

September 29, 200916 yr QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) Isn't Manhattan an island? No. It's more like a peninsula.

September 29, 200916 yr Barker and Soup gave up the scores, but the offense had no legs. Doesnt matter, lets get our legs back before the season starts.
September 30, 200916 yr I'm going to have to get up on like 4 hours sleep to watch that game on Friday at some location in Vegas.

September 30, 200916 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) Possibly. It will make it more fun to watch. I remember being in Vegas for the night once (no luggage) and all of a sudden I saw an OSU game on TV. I was like, why would they show this game on ESPN classic at the casino at this hour? Turns out it was that days game. It was like watching a saturday night game in the middle of the day. Pretty awesome.

October 1, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) Skille didn't make it, even with the injuries. Wow. Yea.. Interesting to see Hendry on right now. I like him enough. Can't wait to see Hjalmarsson for a full season and I have no idea why the org. doesn't like Aaron Johnson at all. I have no idea who the hell Radek Smolenak is though. Tony, Jeff, Andy, Mike, Critic, Steve, etc.. Anyone? Edited October 1, 200916 yr by SoxAce

Tony, Jeff, Andy, Mike, Critic, Steve, etc.. Anyone? I dont know anything about him, this what the article says: No real big surprises here, other than maybe Smolenak being chosen over Skille. Smolenak was picked up off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning last week. He scored two goals in his first preseason game and adds size and toughness that Skille lacks.

Tony, Jeff, Andy, Mike, Critic, Steve, etc.. Anyone? Why.....he's the Next Big Thing, of course!! Nah, I had no idea who he is when the Hawks acquired him, but based on those 2 goals against some nobody overseas team he has CLEARLY beaten Skille for a roster spot.
October 1, 200916 yr FWIW- Barnaby picked SJ over WAS in the finals, and Melrose picked the Hawks over PHI in the finals.
October 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) Semi-tough guy, nothing more than a fringe fourth liner, from what I have read. Obviously never seen him(outside the games in Zurich. No real surprises, I guess outside of Skille. Not a very bold prediction given the circumstances, but I think the team is in store for a little bit of the letdown this season. Hossa coming back mid-season will give them a fantastic boost, but until Huet shows me some consistency, I see him holding the team back. This is really the first year ever he has been asked to carry the load all by himself, and I personally don't think he has it in him. I pray he makes a fool out of me. I would agree with you more if they had stood pat in the free agent market. Even more than Hossa, Madden and Kopecky are playoff hockey personified. I really like those guys to help keep the game to game, and period to period intensity up for the Hawks. They are great examples for the Hawks kids to have on the ice. The goaltending really does scare me though.
October 2, 200916 yr This might be unfair pressure to put on him, but the whole season really does come down to Huet I believe, and more specifically, how he plays in the playoffs. They are going to be good (exactly how good we don't know, but certainly a top 4 team in the West at minimum IMO) and certainly good enough to be in position to make another deep playoff run. If Huet stands on his head in the playoffs, it could be quite a great time, if not, a lot of people are going to be disappointed. And I am sad that Skille didn't make the team, but i'll trust they know what they are doing there. Edited October 2, 200916 yr by whitesoxfan101
