July 31, 200916 yr Even if we don't win anything this year. The next couple of years will be absolutely AMAZING in terms of pitching. Even if Peavy puts up a ERA in the mid 3s instead of the 2s, he's still a very, very good starter. 1. Peavy 2. Buehrle 3. Danks 4. Floyd All I have to say is wow. That's going to be the best pitching staff in the AL for years to come.
July 31, 200916 yr Very studly. Knowing Kenny, he'll probably try to trade for Felix Hernandez to fill our 5th's starters role.

Maybe Hudson as the #5 starter if he keeps raping in the minors?
July 31, 200916 yr It's about 32705462340243703441 times easier to build/maintain a consistent winner when you have your rotation in order (see the 90's Braves). I feel so damn good right now.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) This deal isn't for this year, just remember that. When the Sox want to start making the transition, having this big four to build around is going to make things a hell of alot easier. This is true. But a move like this can single-handedly, I don't know, re-energize (not sure what word I'm looking for) a team.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) it sounds good. But let's remember they are all pitchers. Health is no guarantee. and they traded prospects for him that aren't guarantees either. I love the gamble

July 31, 200916 yr Gavin Floyd - 26 (2-3 years away from prime) John Danks - 24 (4+ years away from prime) Mark Buehrle - 30 (In prime) Jake Peavy - 28 (About to enter prime, true ACE potential when Healthy) Dan Hudson 22 (Tons of upside) Yeah, our rotation is looking damn good for the future. The best thing is, Floyd and Danks still have a while until they hit their prime.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) I hope Torres can hold that 5 spot down for years. That top 4 is awesome. I think Hudson is up late next year or the year after that.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) I think Hudson is up late next year or the year after that. Hudson could have a shot to make the rotation out of ST next year.

Also: takes pressure off the young guys like Beckham (not that he needs it), Getz, whoever else comes up in the next 2-3 years.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) I think Hudson has established himself in the untouchable category for now. Not saying I disagree with you. But there's no such thing as untouchable with KW the GM. If there was something out there that he thought made the Sox better and Hudson had to go, HE GAWN!
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) I'm excited to watch Poreda and Richard out in San Diego. With them in the NL on a bad team, I'm rooting for both of them. I think Richard could be the best out of the bunch.

There were some reports that the Sox basically told the Jays that
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:26 PM) I think Richard could be the best out of the bunch. I think he will be. As far as Huddy, I think this trade actually gives him a better chance of cracking the rotation next season.

July 31, 200916 yr I was stunned when I saw that we got Peavy. He could be a big help to us. Edited July 31, 200916 yr by Baines3
