August 2, 200916 yr Figured the trade was fresh enough to post this as Sox material (do some work and move if not ) Doing well through 4. NL and Petco, could make him look pretty good
August 2, 200916 yr Psst, go check the box score. I wish Richard and the prospects we sent SD nothing but the best, but just don't make history Clayton. Then we'll get all this crap the next few days about how we gave up too much.
August 2, 200916 yr I wish him the best as well. I like the guy. He has a lot of moxie and love his quick pitching pace...
August 2, 200916 yr He has looked great since the ASB, and PETCO will only make him better. I hope he pitches well and beats the Cubs every chance he gets.
August 2, 200916 yr At the same time, he is going to run into his usual problem - pitch count. Guy has a 1 hitter through 5 innings, and yet, he has thrown 81 pitches already. That was always my problem with him.
August 2, 200916 yr I live in the Milwaukee area and have watched the whole game. He's thrown his change twice. All fastballs/curve....looks good.
August 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) He has looked great since the ASB, and PETCO will only make him better. I hope he pitches well and beats the Cubs every chance he gets. +1
August 2, 200916 yr Prince just hit one 900 feet off of him to right...Braun just missed one at the track to Left, which flew a good 355 feet
August 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (DanksFan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) wow... clayton makes the throw to first!!! He had that big smile after pulling that off. He looks like he's having fun out there.
August 2, 200916 yr awwww he's all done after the homer. PADRES fans with the standing O for CR very nice.
August 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (DanksFan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) awwww he's all done after the homer. PADRES fans with the standing O for CR very nice. So is his W...that was a shot
August 2, 200916 yr CR pitched really well tonight. Going to have a no decision, but still a pretty impressive debut.
August 2, 200916 yr Author Solid outing. Didn't see the 6th, but maybe a little quick hook (pitch count at 90, guess they want to be careful with him, though I'd just let him finish the inning, especially with the possibly of the pitcher's spot coming up in the bottom inning, which did happen) and reliever costs him the win. 5.2 IP, 2 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, 5 K's
August 2, 200916 yr 0-2 at the dish. Would have been cooler if he went 2-2 with a double or something.
August 2, 200916 yr 0-2 at the dish. Would have been cooler if he went 2-2 with a double or something. He did have some pretty good cuts at the dish. He smoked one for his 2nd out. I think he'll collect a few hits over there in the NL.
August 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (DanksFan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) He did have some pretty good cuts at the dish. He smoked one for his 2nd out. I think he'll collect a few hits over there in the NL. His athleticism is obvious. Tough to see him go, but then I quickly remember what we got in return and it isn't so bad.
August 2, 200916 yr He's a good prospect. How old is he, anyway? With Buehrle as his mentor, he might have done big things in Chicago.
August 2, 200916 yr Buehrle seems a little miffed about him being gone. Hopefully it doesn't create any tensions between Mark and Peavy. Edited August 2, 200916 yr by StrangeSox
August 2, 200916 yr And the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Richard, 25, topped out at 94-95 mph with his fastball while keeping the Brewers off balance with a 82-mph change. “I like the tempo,” Black said. “He worked fast and threw a good game. That was a pretty solid outing for a guy who flew into San Diego this morning.” After learning of the trade yesterday, Richard drove to his home in Lafayette, Ind., last night and then traveled to Indianapolis yesterday morning to catch a flight to San Diego. Over his past three starts, including two with the White Sox, Richard has allowed three runs over 21 2/3 innings. Like Latos three nights earlier in Cincinnati, Richard retired the first 10 hitters he faced and didn't give up a hit until former Padre Mike Cameron lined a double over Gwynn's head in the fifth. “He did a fantastic job,” Gwynn said of Richard. “That's one of the top three offenses in baseball and he held them to two hits.” San Diego Union Tribune
August 2, 200916 yr To Clayton Richard, My man crush on you will never end, even if your tenure on the Southside has. 5.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER (HR to Fielder), 5 K in his first start with the Pads. Not too shabby, eh?
August 2, 200916 yr Meh. I like Jake Peavy better. Clayton was mediocre and streaky, but pitching in the NL with a majority of your starts in Petco, he could do well....
August 2, 200916 yr I liked his style and hope he succeeds. I'll always root for him whenever the Sox are not playing against him.
