What would it take to get Andrew McCutchen from the Pirates?

I've watched this kid play all season and I love what I see.

Considering what an inept organization Pittsburgh is when it comes to trading away good talent, I'd say a package of Fields+Lillibridge+Wise should do the trick.

Your thoughts?

I really hope you're joking.

As for what it would take. They'd probably take Beckham straight up. Otherwise we'd prolly have to go with either Hudson/Flowers plus some combination of Danks/Shelby/Retherford/Morel

Pirates have traded away some real good young talent for sure, but I think we would be dreaming on this one. Plus what are we loking at in our own system? Shelby-Danks etc

Hudson/Flowers would mean nothing to them. Danks would mean nothing to them.

They are so far away that they would need ready-to-go help at five positions to even think about it. Otherwise, they're far better off going for a one-star fan draw the next few years and hoping that other things materialize around him on the roster.

They need so much help elsewhere that filling even several holes ...it's not an attractive option for them.

Step 1: Fire ozzie

Step 2: Get the Pirates to hire Ozzie

Step 3: Cut a hole in a box

Step 4: Trade McCutcheon straight up for Wise.

Maybe Bobby Jenks? Nah, he'd be too expensive for them.

Apparently it's more difficult to decipher sarcasm on the Internet than I thought.

Yes, I was joking.

But I am curious what you guys think it would realistically take to get him.

I'm sorry but you're very wrong there. For a team like the Pirates those are exactly the kind of players that do mean something to them.

Wait 2 and a half seasons and get him for basically nothing in July 2012.

Only problem with this theory is that their current GM isn't a complete moron like Dave Littlefield was.
