He most definitely would have gotten more.

For 2010, If he's the same player he's been, and you wouldn't want to pay him in 2011 and 2012, well, now you have to.

What is up with the obsession with homeruns and RBI's? Especially RBI's... that would probably be the last stat I would look at, if I even looked at it at all, for judging how good of a hitter somebody is. It's such a team dependent stat, and the Kansas City Royals aren't exactly going to put a huge number of men on base for him to drive them in.

That being said, I wouldn't expect a whole lot from Teahen this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was more 2006 than 2008-9 this season.

OK, how about checking out his numbers with 2 out and RISP the last 2 seasons? Pitcheresque.

And yet, in '06 and '07 he was great in those situations. Situational splits fluctuate greatly from year to year, rarely do they tell you anything.

I would have liked if the Sox could have made the 3rd year an option somehow, but overall I don't think you can really disagree with this deal, even though I think it's doubtful whether Teahen will live up to it going forward.

if u thaught he was bad last year, wait til greg walker gets a hold of him..

if u thaught he was bad last year, wait til he doesn't get to face Buehrle 20 times in a season.

Getz would of been about 12 million dollars cheaper over three years.

WTF?

Well, Walker, you better turn this guy into something more than what the Royals got.

I just had to make this announcement in case we lose sight of things watching other teams pull deals off. We all need to stay focused I know and remember we have until April 2010 to make big moves and keep up with the contenders. We get antsy when we see other teams puling off major trades and we wait. Maybe the Rule V draft on Thursday will change things for us? Yeah right! :gosoxretro:

And wouldn't have been nearly as good

Someone tweeted today that Kenny doesn't expect us to make a Rule V pick this year.
