Here's a reason. It's like reading a newspaper.

Meh. Doing that isn't as cool as it should be. I guess it depends on how they set it all up. Reading a newspaper on my iphone or my fiance's Kindle isn't all that exciting.

I hope it doesn't use Wi-Max

This thing needs a front facing camera or it is worthless to me.

Not sure why they decided that 8" floppy disks would be a good idea for this device.

It looks like an iphone for giants.

It's nice, but buying apps through iTunes really sucks. I was hoping for something closer to OS X than iPhoneOS. It's iPhoneOS on steroids.

I dont like the idea of having to buy apps through a single source. I get the iPhone, but on larger devices it makes no sense. Imagine having to buy every application on your computer through Microsoft or Apple.

But reading a newspaper is like reading a newspaper. And its much cheaper. And you aren't sad when you leave it on the train accidentally.

That's where I was going with the Wi-Max reference an hour ago...

I was interested. I see a lot of potential. Eventually I would like to have everything merged.

Cell phone

Netbook

Money

Keys

Credit Cards

ID cards

MP3 Player

Toll Pass

Company ID

Carry one device and it does everything. I'm the old guy and remember carrying an address book, calendar, to do lists, etc. Then a phone and PDA. I'm liking where this is going, the form factor will be the final determination.

Eventually I see some foldable screen, ultra thin, like paper. 1/8 size it is a phone. 1/4 size a DPA. Full size a laptop computer with virtual keyboard.

But at $599 to $799 plus tax, chances are you'll still be ahead given the lifespan of the average well used ipod touch.

Newspapers also don't have costly glass screens that can easily crack.

iPad includes AT&T 3G for $19.99 (250MB) or $29.99 (unlimited)... no contract.

AT&T, $29.99 unlimited data, no contract.

No mention of Verizon.

$500! DAMN! That's AWESOME!

Check that, 3G versions are extra $130.

They are protecting their Macbooks with the lower memory availability.

Like they couldn't make these things with 160-250 GB's...

Why even make a non 3G with 16GB? What a useless piece of crap. What can that store? 1 video game and 3 HD movies?

They could, but SSD drives of that size are super expensive right now.
