Cyanogenmod is becoming a company and they're going to introduce an app in the play store for easily installing their ROM.

That's actually really good to see, as it will legitimize their product.

First I've heard of this, and I've been using it for months. Sounds to me like certain makers of audio software (used to make music) dragged their feet in recreating their apps for ios7, and now are trying to blame Apple is what it sounds like. Then again, I'm not a musician, and the few I know don't use their phones to create music anyway.

Yup. Always blame the big bad company instead of your lazy developers. We've had people developing on IOS7 for months and months. Anyone who hasnt is really stupid or lazy.

If I order 5S fri online, odds it'll be back ordered?

Maybe this will allow them to put in some more features.

In comparison to some other ROMs (most of which are CM forks), it lacks a lot of the cool features other ROMs have had for a while.

For instance, I can't even make my navigation bar transparent or change the height of it in CM. I also can't assign long-press actions to those navigation buttons. AOKP (and ROMs based off it) has had that option for more than a year.

Because other audio apps are working fine, such as Yamaha's? They need to build a new framework and use the new ios7 APIs. And it's not just Yahama's that works, as does Tracktor...so it's sounding to me like Audiobus waited too long and didn't make their deadlines.

They pretty much say there are always issues, but for the most part, in their studios, this software all seems to work on ios7 just fine.

Audiobus, which is easily the most important and popular music creation app around as it allows apps to "talk" to one another, is even recommending not updating. If Audiobus puts out a warning, it's a pretty big deal. As StrangeSox said, Traktor also put out a warning, as did Korg.

In my experience, even iOS 6 has been incredibly unstable. I've crashed Safari numerous times.

We're talking about multimillion dollar companies here. This isn't your mom and pop app. It's kind of a big deal.

If it was windows and the companies didnt develop in time for a new launch the same would be true. It's lazy or stupid. Its not difficult to develop mobile applications, I've made several myself and I have a psych degree. We finished our IOS7 app upgrade in less than a few weeks.

My impression of the gripes by these app developers is that they cannot "develop" their way through the problems because there are insurmountable (to anyone but Apple) problems with the OS.

You can't just generalize that these developers were lazy or stupid. They make apps for music creation. Mobile apps in general are fairly easy to make, but how many general apps deal with audio creation and interface with musical instruments?

Whenever hardware comes into play, things get more complicated than your usual mobile app.

Exactly right. These apps are designed to interact with hardware and are far more intensive than anything Rock is running. I find the whole thing interesting as one of Apple's selling points is the stability of the OS and its ease of use with audio developers.

I'll upgrade my iPad eventually, but I'm not upgrading the iPhone. I have a 4 and my contract has a while before I can upgrade. I really don't trust Apple to not f*** me because my phone is "obselete."

My company's apps arent "general", and I have several customers who have apps that not only rely on hardware, but much more complex hardware than musical instruments and their interfaces. Those folks have all been ready for this upgrade for some time.

And if I cant generalize, what is a message board for?

Your apps probably don't deal with audio. So it could be that iOS 7 changed certain things around so that certain audio equipment don't work with it.

Still ignores the fact other audio apps have been updated and are working fine. To pretend Yahama isn't a big name in that industry is a joke. They're bigger than Audiobus, for sure.

From what I understand, hardware manufacturers like Native Instruments have discouraged users to upgrade. It's not just Audiobus.

It might not just be software-related, there could be issues with existing hardware.

So, since I got the 5 last year, I can't get a new iPhone for another year unless I want to pay $450 for the 5S today.

That's usually how it works.

Pay the $450 and sell the 5 for a few hundred.

He can probably sell the iPhone 5 for $400 on eBay if it's in good condition.

GSM phones usually sell for more than CDMA. He'll probably get $50-$100 less for a Sprint or Verizon version.

Or just keep the 5 until the 6 comes out?

Yamaha doesn't have any apps near as popular as Audiobus. Outside of Yamaha's studio monitors, they don't have any popular hardware in the audio industry either. They're kind of seen as a joke company that makes toy keyboards for kids.

And yes, that's just their AV arm, that doesn't include their motor corp.

Dude, that's 13.62 American Dollars per share.

I don't think he was talking about Yamaha as a whole being a joke company, just their musical apps in the DJ scene.

This post about their price only being 13$ per share shows it's time to exit this fruitless discussion. Posts deleted.
