June 1, 201015 yr If Phil was this good at working the refs and the mind of the other team back during the Bulls years, I can't say I remember it. In a question related to the teams' toughness, Jackson acknowledged the contrast between the Lakers' and Celtics' physical makeups, saying, "We don't have a smackdown mentality." He then riffed on Boston forward Kevin Garnett for what Jackson perceived as playing a little too rough against Orlando center Dwight Howard in the Celtics' six-game East finals victory over the Magic. "He was smacking Howard's arm and finally he was called for an offensive foul," Jackson said of Garnett. "That's not our team. We don't go out there and smack people around."
June 1, 201015 yr Tyreke Evans got a 100 mph speeding ticket. Have to wonder if this might have been a "wink wink" dui case.
June 1, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) does having someone else take your SAT's for you count as another mark against him? Not when he shouldn't have had to go to college in the first place.
June 1, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) Not when he shouldn't have had to go to college in the first place. Ha, I love it when people say that. Like he didn't have a choice to play overseas for a year or in the NBDL. Instead his pimp got paid, he got fake grades, and tons of exposure at a major program. Pretty typical of a Calipari top recruit.

Back when he did it, there was no precedent for going overseas, so you can't really claim that as an option. Not to mention the fact that these guys are for the most part, astonishingly dumb, he just happened to get caught. I don't believe for 1 second that the majority of the guys in big colleges deserve to be there academically. The system is broke and these are the consequences of it unfortunately, still doesn't change the fact that he should have been allowed to play in the NBA at 18 instead of 19

Evans was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said. There's absolutely no basis for your comment and in the exact article you link to it's stated rather clearly.

And you don't think there's ever been a case of the police casually covering up for famous people who get caught breaking lots of traffic rules?

I think your tin foil hat is on a little too tight. Sure, there has been, but to assume or even bring it up for any random case is pointless. Edited June 1, 201015 yr by Steve9347

I would bet other than true basketball fans, a common guy/fan wouldn't know who the hell he is. Edited June 1, 201015 yr by SoxAce

June 3, 201015 yr I like. ---- The New York Post is reporting that Tom Thibodeau has turned down an offer to coach the New Orleans Hornets and is now the front runner to coach the Chicago Bulls. Thibodeau, who reportedly has trouble making decisions, was beat out for the Bulls' job by Vinny Del Negro last time around, but is said to be nearly a lock for the job this time. Avery Johnson is now the front runner to take the Nets' coaching job, while Monty Williams should take over in New Orleans in the near future.

I'd like Doc or Phil better, but if that can't happen I'm perfectly content with Thibo.
June 3, 201015 yr Hopefully if he's hired, he can put Rose in a defensive boot camp this summer. Hell, I wouldn't even mind David Lee if we can't get Bosh/Amare if that is the case. (possibly even more now) Dude is taking the Noah route of improvement every year.

I Love me some David Lee but I hope that his numbers jumping up like that (although he is always a double double waiting to happen) aren't a D'Antoni factor
June 3, 201015 yr I would really like the Thibodeau hire in a vaacum. But this summer, the only vaacum a hire occurs in is the "what does it mean in the LeBron sweepstakes" one, and that we don't know.

But this summer, the only vaacum a hire occurs in is the "what does it mean in the LeBron sweepstakes" one, and that we don't know. I almost hesitate to say this, but I actually feel like I'd rather wind up with a very good coach and scheme rather than a crappy, Lebron-approved coach and scheme. If he wants to come to Chicago, no more of this "Lebron's people run the team" crap that Cleveland's been running out there the last few years to try to make him happy.
June 4, 201015 yr I have no idea how the Celtics are only down 4. They look as bad as they did the last 20 games of the regular season.
June 4, 201015 yr If this is the best Boston has to offer then this series is over in 4. Paul Pierce looks fat and slow. KG looks like he's about 45. They're getting outplayed every way imaginable. Makes you wonder how overrated the Cavs and Magic really were. Like I said a couple weeks ago, one can only hope that Lebron is looking at Kobe's current situation and absolutely seething.
June 4, 201015 yr I had Lakers in 6 going into this series. As J4L said, if this is what the Celtics really are gonna do, it will probably be over alot faster than many think. Lakers still have those younger legs. Hell, Bynum and his half shredded knee has more hops than Garnett right now. EDIT: Kobe's face is hilarious... Edited June 4, 201015 yr by SoxAce

June 5, 201015 yr Wow... looks like Tom Thibodeau will get an offer to be our new head coach. (and I would like to say he should have been hired 2 years ago, but then again.. this is our organization) Good call by DBAH0 advocating this for two years for us as well. I like Thibs, and a big rumor (hope it is true) that Mo Cheeks might join us as an assistant (and Ron Adams... careful Joakim...) as well. (which can only help Rose and who was my 1st choice for weeks before Thibo-mania stepped in) Also remember... Thibs recently joined WWW which has that other big name FA who shares the same agency... hmmmm... Tom Thibodeau, the former Knick assistant coach, is close to finalizing a deal to become the next coach of the Chicago Bulls an NBA source told the Daily News. Thibodeau, currently an assistant with the Celtics, was in negotiations last night with Chicago team officials. Thibodeau had been the leading candidate to take the Hornets job but passed for a chance to coach the Bulls. In fact, former Knick first-round pick Monty Williams, an assistant with Cortland, is now considered the top choice the top choice to coach the Hornets. LINK. Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf spent part of Friday at the Berto Center, where sources said positive discussions about Tom Thibodeau continued with executive vice president John Paxson and general manager Gar Forman and that a formal offer is expected shortly. The Celtics' associate head coach quickly emerged as the front-runner to succeed Vinny Del Negro as Bulls coach after Paxson and Forman flew to Los Angeles for a Wednesday night interview on the eve of the NBA Finals. Two sources familiar with the Bulls' thinking continued to paint the situation as Thibodeau's job to lose and that an offer is expected to come this weekend. Former Nets coach Lawrence Frank has been advised he's no longer a candidate. more at link... Edited June 5, 201015 yr by SoxAce
